Have I stumbled upon cold and flu prevention?

I used to get colds and flus quite regularly. For over 20 years, I have not had the stomach flu. I have not thrown up from ANY cause (Except from pain reflex with a kidney stone) in over 20 years. But I have heard that as you get older, getting such things as an adult goes down.

However...colds, or those types of flus that are like a cold, where you get all those miserable symptoms? I haven't had a lick of either in over two years. I used to get something perhaps 1-3 times a year.

So what happened? Well, I started taking vitamins. But THAT doesn't appear to be a cure-all as far as prevention goes, because there are people, including my parents, who eat very good balanced meals AND take hordes of vitamin/mineral supplements...for years. But they always get colds/flus that have all the symptoms.

I have been in their house when they are both sick.(But I don't live with them). Yet, I get nothing. I work in college rentals. I have been in these rentals in the colder months when the entire household has some cold or flu. Yet, I get nothing. At worst, I might feel like I have some fringe element of a cold or flu...but nothing that would cause me to stay home and wrap myself in a blanket and eat chicken soup.

So what is going on? Have I mysteriously built up an immunity? Or, is the exposure that I THINK I am getting, not really there? I.e., as in since I don't LIVE with any of these people, I am not being touched by them, or sneezed on by them, etc.

Or could it be this: What I have done religiously for the last 2-3 years now is sleep with a fan blowing in my bedroom, on 'hi' speed. I bounce it off an opposite wall, so that I get indirect swirling air. I also make a conscious effort that when I have to sneeze...to purse my lips and sneeze through my pursed lips. This prevents the back of my throat from getting raw. I have an exTREMEly violent sneeze that practically tears a hole in the back of my throat. I have read that the world record sneeze is about 100 mph. Well...nobody tested mine. Mine is 300 mph!!!! By doing this, I don't get a sore throat anymore. I have theorized that when your throat is wounded/raw from sneezing, you expose yourself to the bad cultures form cold or flu.

The fan, by blowing around air, even though you might have your windows closed in the cold months, is still better than inhaling/exhaling the same air in proximity to where you are sleeping, I believe.

Nothing else in my lifestyle has changed in years and years. I go to bed about the same time (like midnight, give or take some). I have eaten about the same stuff. I have from 0-4 beers a night...and probably average 1-2...for years. So...it comes down to the fan and the pursed lips.

Try it. You have nothing to lose.

I also recommend trying David Deutsch's 'Grass cure'. I expect it will be at least as effective. You never know...
