Hariri and 20 others were killed by a massive bomb in Beirut on Feb. 14th, 2005
I believe Syria did assasinate Hariri because he was anti-Syrian and one of the most powerful men in Lebanon. The UN Security Council even went so far as to issue a statement calling on all parties to cooperate, "especially those who are yet to respond adequately."...as Syrian ambassador Feysel Mekdad rejects the accusations and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad claims "we are showing complete cooperation".
Perhaps if Hariri and the 20 others murdered on Feb 14th were Korans then we might get some cooperation in that part of the world..

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- A top U.N. official said Thursday that Syria was not fully cooperating with the investigation into February's assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, refusing to turn over documents and ignoring interview requests.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad pledged his country's full cooperation with the U.N. probe into the murder of Lebanese ex-Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri, saying in an interview it was in Syria's best interest to do so.
"We are showing complete cooperation. We are interested in the investigation because we are convinced we will be cleared -- that is unless the results are falsified for political reasons," Assad told German news weekly Der Spiegel in an interview published on Sunday.

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Police detained three former Lebanese security chiefs Tuesday at the request of the U.N. investigation into the assassination of Lebanon's former prime minister, security officials said. Lebanon's former justice minister and the commander of the presidential guards were also summoned.
Many Lebanese blamed Hariri's assassination on Syria and pro-Syrian elements of their government. Syria and its Lebanese allies have denied any involvement.
