This is a message to users near* Cambridge, UK - does anyone know of any skeptic soceities nearby, and if so, how I would go about finding them? Very sorry to mods if this in the wrong forum, and if it is please do move as appropriate.

Either way, cheers for your help...

*I have a pretty loose definition of near by British standards, say around 80 miles.

I don't know of any, Spank, and I'm in the Cambs area, too.
I think London is about as "local" as it gets for us.

(But I confess I haven't done much in-depth searching for like-minded Cambridge-ites. We Fen-folk don't get out much. We tend to stay home, marrying our cousins and playing our banjos with our little webbed fingers. ;)

I believe one of the Universities has a group, but I think it is only for students. A friend and I went to a "meeting" in a pub but could not locate the skeptics. Instead we just had a proper piss-up with a group of strangers.

I'm from Cambridge too, so if you get any info please post it on here as I might like to get away from this computer for a bit! I am in the fens area now myself too, near Ely.

Well, since there seems to be a few of us interested in a group near Cambridge, maybe we could get something together at a pub. I have a few freinds who would be interested as well.

Count me in too. Anyone have a good local nearby that we can have a little chat in? There is one right near my place, but it would be impossible for other folks to find.

How about somewhere in Cambridge, near the station? That way we could all get in via trian if we wanted to get drunk lol. Maybe the Salisbury Arms just off Devonshire Road?

Well there IS a station in Waterbeach, but Cambridge has one too. If people don't know the area though it would be easy to get lost from there. Maybe somewhere else then, a village pub? Then at least if we find the place we would at least know we were close :)

Milton has a few pubs and it's pretty easy to find. How about one there? We could get something started there and then switch to another pub if it doesn't work out. How about a Friday or Saturday evening?

Not taht I'm actually in Cambs, but my memory says that "The Free Press" (if it's still open and I hope it is) is a decent place, though not particularly close to Cambs station. We've used it as a watering hole in the past, with decent results.

I looked it up and 'The Free Press' is still up and running, so it sounds like a plan to me. Anyone want to suggest a time to meet up there?

I had to look that pub up it's been so long. Now I remember it. The manager told me off for swearing in there whilst telling a joke... So don't get too wound up whilst discussing homeopathy. It's non smoking too but any smokers could always nip outside I expect.
I personally can't do this Friday but if you get together again give me a pm please and I'll try to come along.
