My Excel chart/graph skills were never good and are now rusty ;)

Based on some imported data, I have generated a perfectly nice line graph that appears to show a trend. Is there an option to overlay any 'trend line' on the graph? Damned if I can see it.
I'll do a  in advance.

I remember in Stat class we couldn't do anything like that unless we downloaded an add on for Excel, and used the column data to create plots with it. I will look to see if it is still on my computer.

ETA: It is the analysis tool pak that we used, you can find instructions for loading it here:

it is a little difficult to start out using, but once you learn the basics, it is a pretty good add on to excel. This will allow you to do the trend and regression analysis, as well as confidence and all the other fun stuff that people bring up during MDC protocol discussions.

Yes. Right click on the line itself and trendline should be an option. If that does not work you or the trend line option is greyed out try a different line chart, by again right clicking on the chart and picking chart type.

nice bit of info, but I don't see anything you can do with it. On mine, it doesn't give any information on the trend line, like slope.

ETA: I figured out how to show slope and coef. of determination, using Lothian's suggestion. Highlight the line, right click, select format trend line, and under options click "display equation" and "show r2" boxes.

ETAA: Geez, this is pretty much all anyone ever needs, don't know why they spent so much time with Analysis ToolPak in school.

ETATEE: Little tip: It is sometimes unclear what type of trend you have, I would try out all the different types, until you find the one with the highest r-squared.
