Good News For Atheists

Article Interviewee said:
“I would never understand why people pray all their lives, not see the results,” Stan says, “and here I am calling out on God, this split second, and He sends someone for me.”

Obviously god likes this guy better than all of those who died in the same tragic event. Meh.

After much data collecting, researching, testing, peer reviewing, fact checking, and more peer reviewing, it is the conclusion of the panel that this world has gone insane...

I think the idea of a god who will save you, whether you kiss his butt or not, is nice. Still irrational, but nice.

Whoa, man... you're trying to tell me that my invisible cat lied to me?

Knowingly. It's all part of the conspiracy. The cats spread the lies, the parrots repeat them, the dogs eat the food, the wolves eat the dissidents, the dolphins do the shows, the whales land on the beaches, the rats make the betrayals, the giraffes watch from above, the elephants blow the trumpets, the ferrets find the secrets and the weasels give out the orders.

Actually, while the first part of the article seems to be relying on an unverifiable personal experience of one individual as 'proof', the latter part of the article argues essentially that the 'experience' of god is an illusory one, that exists only in the brain due to particular kinds of stimulation. His final, summary paragraph:
Pain stimulates these reactions. So does a lack of oxygen. No matter your religious affiliation or level of belief — or disbelief — your brain reacts almost identically. If you’re fighting for your life, the right side, where both creativity and dreams originate, really lights up. This, Persinger says, is God’s headquarters.
So really, so far as I can see, he's arguing that belief in a god of some kind has psychological (and resultant physical) beneficial effects on the individual, but the actual experience that an individual may have of god's intervention or presence is an illusion.
