Maybe there's a setting within your preferred browser to not play gifs.

Unfortunately no, but thx the same. I found two plugins; one by MS which worked but was the one that bombarded me with ads (so even worse); the other required a ton of PII including a CC #. lol right. (It also installed some "app" anyway on my PC that I had to uninstall)

Only because Brave is quirky with how it does/doesn't block things from auto-playing (or playing at all), so on rare occasion it's a useful alternative.

Ironically, this is the only place where I've ever found animated GIFs to be a problem that needed solving.

I switched to Vivaldi browser a while back after years on Firefox. I'd recommend it. It has in settings

I've now set it to never, so thanks.
