Such a bargain!

OK, so what is it?

Looks to me like a standard Tektronix O-scope... an older one at that. A keyboard and mouse... on an O-scope? The box above... no idea... I can sorta make out what looks like ACME Tronix... Wile E Coyote's vendor of choice. The thing on top?... no idea... the pic is too fuzzy to make out any detail.

It looks like the link isn't working. Oh well, at ebay you can search 'ghost hunter' and look under the 'everything else' category.

the pictures provided as evidence seem to me be to a slam-dunk. now i truly believe that this thing works.

it produces fuzzy blue squiggly shapes.

and for only $200,000.

Looks more like a signal/spectrum analyzer than an o-scope. Something that plots intesity on one axis and frequency on the other. I'm guessing the rest is some combination antenna/oscillator/signal generator..

I used to work for a company that made an analyzer with a third axis so you could see how the signal varied over time. It was used for hunting "spooks" too. Only with a different meaning (think "007")...

Apparently in the "ask a seller a question" portion he mentions James Randi does not have the million dollars.

What a surprise.

I heard on the Skepticality podcast James say no one has ever asked for the proof of the million dollars sent out to them. Wonder if I should have it sent to this idiot?

It's interesting that he invites scientists and government "people" (really formally at that) to come and test it.

Why is it always the responsibility of the skeptics to proove something DOESN'T work with these hacks?! I have trouble grasping why people get so offended when others don't just outright believe their crap. I mean, heck, when I tell women I'm well endowed I offer to prove it - I don't tell them they have to prove me wrong. Okay that never really happened, but still, you get the point.

Perhaps Kevin Trudeau's been around too long, leaving the impression that you don't have to prove anything to make money on it. Frickin' sad.

That auction is over, but apparently it didn't sell (surprise, surprise) so it's up for bid again.

I sent the auctioner a few questions, mostly about the function of this magical little apparatus, to which I received a reply that if I were truly interested I should call a long-distance number and talk to "Dave."

I've already asked why I have to make an expensive long-distance call for this information. No reply yet, but in all fairness it has only been a few hours. We'll see.

INteresting why he'd make you call long distance.

The thing's a total scam. almost 200k for at most 1k worth of equipment? please.
