Even in Florida, Kerry's 22 percent lead among women has been halved in the last few weeks. In the last presidential election, Gore won women's votes 54 to 42 percent."
The weakest link of the american electorate has been the "moderate" soccer moms, aka DWB's. To get their vote you have to be not scary, and repeat "for the children" over and over. The last thing they've always wanted to hear is a warlike-sounding candidate. Then why the switch to Bush? I have a theory that they actually will support a hawk candidate, if they perceive that we are actually in a war. They don't want wars, but given the fait accompli of a war, they want someone who sounds like he is going to protect the nation, hence them and their children, hence the Bush support.
