The Blood is boiling!
I have just listened to an exchange between Uri Geller and Simon Singh on uk radio 5 live. All the noises you would expect from Geller."Please visit my website and see I have passed many scientific tests at Universities etc". Simon did well and referenced the MDC. Geller evaded and waffled saying simon had a closed mind and quoted Einstein in his defence?
They are about to have a phone in on peoples personal experiences. In other words anecdote radio time. I predict no calls claiming no paranrmal events. I sent a strongly worded text :)

I heard it too.
Uri Gellar was several times pressed upon whether he would submit himself to scientific testing by Professor Chris French. He declined, saying he had been tested already.
What he didn't say was that he had been tested and shown to be an utter fraud.

I think most people view Gellar as an entertainer rather than a psychic, but there are some who insist he has real paranormal powers.

Did you notice that when he was pressed about getting tested by Singh (I'll match you pound for pound), he couldn't get off air quickly enough? He's a fraud and a (what's that 'Randi' word? Ah yes) mountebank.
These days he won't even admit that he's admitted being a fraud.

The Phone in is gruesome. Thay have a fraudster on right now, Apparently his powers don't always work. Who would have guessed?
The presenter Nicki Campbell slipped and refered to sceptics as cynics. Its a sad day for radio 5

Read the comments on the 'Your Call' Radio 5 page. Almost all are endorsing this nonsense. I sent two messages, neither of which were abusive or inflammatory and I could see no reason why they wouldn't pass the 'pre-mod'. Neither of which appeared. This is typical of BBC. I used to get a little riled about their refusal to show balance, now ... Meh!

Incidentally, Campbell was part of a 'Watchdog' programme aired 23rd Jan 2008, when Julia Bradbury wrapped up the programme with "Of Course, there are genuine psychics out there...". I complained and never got a response. As I said, typical Beeb.

Maybe they get far more than they can publish, and choose a few select ones, but looking at the dire quality of what comments were published I'd be surprised.

The last caller even had the temerity to say (when she was discussing how convincing the psychic was who was channelling her dead daughter) that one of the strong "hits" was when her daughter "said" about the funeral: "I loved the flowers"!

Campbell, for all of his "humanities graduate" origins, is actually quite sceptical and scientific himself, and doesn't believe much of this stuff. I often get the feeling he would like to shout out "BS" at some of the people he has to interview, but is restrained by the Beeb's "balance" agenda.

I think Steve Wright, on radio2, still has a slot for that oaf, Russel Grant pushing his astrology nonsense . I would tune in to confirm but i don't want to risk my Ears bleeding.

I think Campbell came across very poorly. Asking sceptics to prove that the paranormal doesn't exist?
I sent a text suggesting that, as he is just a presenter rather than a proper reporter he may not realise where the burden of proof belongs.

Didn't get read out.

Heard it. Wasn't impressed, didn't expect to be. Turned off after Nicky Campbell started to waffle on about Matt Monroe.

Yeah, I get that feeling. He doesn't do a lot to reinforce it though, especially when he asks the 'cynics' for proof of non-existence of mediumship.

He has a lady on - Sarah Delphi. Completely endorsed Beeb woo. Bah.

Of course when asked if he'd [the psychic - not Campbell] met his [Monroe's] daughter, the fool agreed that he had, next thing Matt's on the Psi-phone!!!

Did anyone hear the guy at the end. A caller was goading a [high ranking] member of some sort of British Medium Bollocks Society to name his dead Dad. After a number of refusals, along the lines of 'No! Why should I?' He tried 'David', no luck there, but that was because it wasn't 'coming through', it was just a 'name on his mind'. How people believe this bollocks amazes me.

I liked how Uri kept saying "I've been tested". Not, you'll not "I passed the tests", or "the tests proved I'm a psychic", but just "I've been tested a lot". I would say that his most important skill is probably his ability to say absolutely nothing at all, while saying so much...

I loved the episode of South Park where Stan (or is it Kyle) is trying to prove John Edward is a fake and demonstarates cold reading technniques and everyone starts to think he's an even better psychic than Edward.

no two spoon bending and compas moving

He also does images, as in one person draws and he draws the exact same image.

If you ask me, his greatest trick was convincing people regarding his attractiveness... Seriously?

It always makes me laugh when I catch reruns of shows from the days like "Are you being served" where they referenced Geller multiple times (as both being real psychic and being "ever so handsome")
