Forum t-shirts photoshoot at TAM

Unless you've been hiding under Hawk_One, you have probably noticed the rather large banners advertising forum t-shirts.

The orders are already rolling in, so I thought it would be really nice to organise a photo at TAM of all the forumites who have forum shirts (wearing them, of course!).

If you have ordered a shirt and are coming to TAM, bring it with you and be in the pic!

It'll only take ten minutes, so I'm thinking we could slot it in on Fri or Sat right after the conference?

I should mention that the t-shirt photo will be an 'official' forum one and may be used to shamelessly plug the t-shirts or even the forum itself at some point in the future. So if you don't want your picture on the internet or on Manhattan buildings, this might not be the group pic for you.

However, I might be providing cardboard masks of JMercer's face to hold over your own (for a large fee). Failing that, you could get a stunt person to wear your t-shirt for you, but I take no responsibility for any embarrassing 'accidental' mistaken identity leading to inadvertent wife swapping.

But if you have always dreamed of being the face (and chest...) of skepticism, this is the place to start! Any suggestions for time/location would be gratefully received, and hopefully we'll see lots of you in t-shirts at TAM!

I was hoping you'd think of this! The forum party would be a good place, if people don't mind bringing it along for the photo. (I think they're not in keeping with Rebecca's party dress code, although if I am mistaken about this I would appreciate being corrected)

Yes, will be nice to get some party shots, although we'd have to make sure everyone who wants to be in the pic will also be at the party. And we'd need somewhere to get changed before and after, too. Might be complicated, but let's see what the rest of the feedback is. I'm happy to go with the popular vote.

If we get enough people, we could also do a couple of different shots, say all women and all men, couples, that sort of thing. Whatever people are up for, really.

Ha, there isn't a dress code for the forum party, per se. It's just that people tend to dress up, which might make others feel a bit underdone in a t-shirt.

I'd recommend the t-shirt photo be taken just before or after the regular forum photo. That tends to be shot just after the conference on Friday or Saturday, so since everyone will be together at once getting photographed anyway, it would probably be easiest to schedule it then.

Yes, get the forum picture on Friday or Saturday, preferably around noon, just after the lecture has finished. Otherwise it'll get postponed again like it has all the previous years, until it has to be rushed in last-minute on sunday afternoon, when lots of people are already on their way to the airport to make it back in time to go to work on Monday morning.

Agreed. Skepchicks, at least, often have fun wearing things such as sparkly dresses, mini skirts, and high-heels to the forum parties. Many skepdudes also try to dress to impress, but they have trouble keeping up :-).

The Forum Photo (Why isn't it "Phorum Foto"? Izn't dat veird?) should definitely be shot when people are at the sessions. We can summon people from the podium, instead of gathering later on, where people are scattered.

How about 17:40 on Saturday? The sessions (are scheduled to!) end at 17:30, and the Master of Ceremonies could remind us just before lunch and right after the sessions ends.

I would try to do this during lunchtime because after the sessions, a lot of people may have plenty of things planned all at once, and be in a need to rush out to dinner and make it back in time for a show, etc...

Less pressure during lunch (except having to queue in the buffet line).

Or maybe during one of the breaks?
Everyone will be there, and we'll have about 10-15 minutes to get this done without having too many of the other attendees running around all over the place as well.

Edit:
On second thought, that's when the volunteers will be at their bussiest. So that won't work.

You're right: Let's make it just before the after-lunch sessions start on Saturday. People can gobble up their chow, come out for a photo op, and settle down. A lunch break leaves a lot more room for wiggling than a forum break.

Heck, I'll make an Executive Decision (I always wanted to make one of those) and put it on The Official Tam5 Unofficial Activities List right now.

Complaints will be dealt with accordingly... :)

I like the Saturday lunch break idea, as we are flying back to CA immediately after the conference ends on Saturday.

You are? :(

OK, let's tie the official forum t-shirt photo and the general forum photo into the same session - lunchtime Sat works for me too.

T-Shirt Urgent Call

In an act of unforgivable neglect I let the time pass without ordering my t-shirt. And time flies indeed; as I write it's only 26 days left for me to taking off to Las Vegas.

I'm afraid it's already too late for my shirt to safely arrive on time, since from experience I know that international orders can take up to 20 days to deliver (+ 5 days order processing + ~5 days shirt manufacture and shipping = ~30 days :( )

So,

1) Are there going to be forum t-shirts for sale at TAM?

or,

2) Any kind soul on a shorter delivery time location can take care of my t-shirt?

Thanks!!

We can't sell the t-shirts at TAM because each one has a unique graphic on which is the forum member's name, so we wouldn't know which names to make and could potentially waste a lot of money making names that the person doesn't buy. Plus the major benefit of them as a fundraiser is that there are no upfront costs. :)

So your best bet is to find a kindly soul in the USA who will take delivery for you - you can still pay for it yourself via the Paypal form, but just put their details in the delivery address.

Two forum members, Otto and a.real.girl have volunteered to be delivery persons at TAM, so if you PM one of them perhaps you can come to some arrangement. Or you might want to ask someone you know personally, etc.

Just to be all boring and legal, I should stipulate that the JREF and the forum cannot take responsibility for any private delivery arrangements you make!

Yes, but I was thinking on a stock of "blank t-shirts" for sale at TAM (I mean name field=blank). Maybe it's a worthwhile idea?

Thanks!, I already found a kind (and attractive) soul who will take care of my shirt :).

Yes. I am traveling with 8 other people.

Fly back on Saturday night = $44/person.

Fly back on Sunday = $169/person.

I can't help but find the whole forum-shirt ordering needlessly complicated, and spread out over too many separate web pages. I'm pretty sure I botched the first order, so I'm trying this again. Hopefully, with the right reference number this time
