Some users are reporting that Firefox has started running an LLM - via El Reg
Mozilla, in its finite wisdom, embedded LLM bots into recent versions of Firefox for the vitally-important purpose of… naming tab groups. Now, some users are noticing CPU and power usage spikes caused by a background process called Inference. All we have so far is a smoking gun, but it does look like Mozilla's product management has maintained its laser-like aim at its own feet.

I switched to Vivaldi a few weeks ago FWIW

They get paid good money by Google to remain nearly as good as chrome, so as chrome is gradually en****tified they have to do what they can to stay below it.

Hmmm, none of that is happening in Firefox here.

Vertical tabs is an option, which I'm not using; I don't have a "Customise sidebar" section; I'm on v 141.0.3; nothing about AI enhanced tab groups comes up on searching settings.

I'm not sure about the tab organization thing, but I've got (and use) ChatGPT set up in my sidebar, and three other AI's are available there. It seems to function mostly like it does when I go to the website directly. I don´t see any auto-tab organization feature. All I've got is the option of opening up AI on the side in a split browser sort of setup.

Firefox has just up-dated (v142) in the last 15 minutes and is offering me the option to add an AI thingy to the side bar, but as I don't use the side bar I will not be bothering.
