Did anyone watch the football game last night. during 1/2 time they had an interview with FCC chair Mike Powell (Colin's son).

Did I say interview, cause it was more like inappropriate paid advertising for High Def TV. It was rather odd. They talked about how great HDTV is an how everyone should run out and buy and HDTV.

Is he a govt employee or a TV pitchman?
 
Maybe it has to do with the fact that tv standards will be changed to HDTV in 2006?
 
I was thinking more of the cool free skybox tickets and VIP treatment he got at the big Monday Night game.

I thought they recently decided to relax these standards? Can't find anything on google about it though...

They've been "relaxing the standards" since, 1996, wasn't it?
 
We are getting played again . I have been talking about this subject for 3 years now. Not only are the standards going to change, but regular TVs will not work without a box top converter ...Just buy a 42" plasma TV...so Solly!.

IN addition to that, a conglomerate of conglomerates ( Sony, Toshiba, NEC, Phillips ) are implementing a plan ( done deal ) to place an encryption device between the receiver part and the screen part of the TV that is integral and not accessible from the outside. You know bogus sat cards, hacked cable boxes. Pay You must! Then after a period the old TV w/box top translators will no longer work!.

No paranoia, anyone with a subscription to EE times or equiv. knows that is the truth. So rush out now and by that big screen ya always wanted!

Well you didn't think best buy was in business as a source of legislative information. Caveat Emptor
