For those of you in the Cleveland area, there is a special on Fox8 news Tuesday night at 10.
They are showing some religious guy who claims to heal people.
I will watch it and see what conclusions they come up with. I don't recognize him.
They didn't say his name.
I once went to a church which claimed belief that folks had gold dust falling on them!

FRAUD!

Ok.
It was Leroy Jenkins.
The local news interveiwed him, asked about the million dollar challenge and had comments from Randi!
Leroy said he has a couple of "provable" healings, will Randi give him a million for each one?

They found no documented cases, in fact, some cases he said he healed them, that was NOT what was wrong with them.

He also told the interviewer, "Don't touch God's annointed" implying that God would "get" the interviewer for going after him.

No surprises, but I am glad an actual news show showed that he really is a fraud.

Most stations are bad about using "teasers", but anything with FOX in the title is much worse. They'll sprinkle their ads with things like, "Do tacos cause cancer?", just to get you to tune in. Once you are hooked, it is obvious that there is no story, but by the time you find that out, you've watched the show.

It really pisses me off!!!!

I cannot understand, why it does not occur to the media jerks, who insists on giving these anal orifices publicity,
to put together a demonstration at a local children's burn or cancer ward.....

Well, at least they've exposed one fraud.
To some folks who would've never read the Skeptical Inquirer or Randi's works, especially Faith Healers.
Going to many fundie churches myself, I've heard of "healers" but seen no "evidence."

One of the best-kept secrets of medical research is that everything causes cancer in white mice.

I wonder how white mice ever made it through natural selection, seeing as how they can get cancer just by breathing a little too much.

actually

actually, I think they were bred into existence.

Leroy Jenkins was in the news again tonite. He sold his church for $1 Million to some Hindu organization, and will be conducting his "business" out of a hotel until he finds a new venue.

His Most Amazing One took him appart years ago in his The Faith Healers.

Execellent book! I am not just saying it to get a free spoon . . . BENT BY RANDI'S HAND!!! [!--Ed.]

Anyone remember FOX's "Alien Autopsy?"
Remember it? I think I still have the video of it somewhere. (Taped from TV; don't worry, I didn't spend real money on it.)

I am proud of my son, age 10.
He watched it with me, and said he didn't think anyone can heal someone by laying hands on them.
I told him the guy couldn't prove it!

Children are naturally skeptical, which is good.

Once I told him there was this semifamous guy who claimed he could bend spoons by his mind power.
my son: He can't.
me: how does he do it then?
my son: he does it when no one is looking.
:)
