Exorcism has been growing in popularity for some time, with the Holy Roman Empire invigorating exorcism and even going on an exorcist recruitment drive a couple of years back.

Satan's greatest trick is fooling people that He doesn't exist, so it's no surprise the tender wee christians are turning all Medieval on Him in an effort to be relevant in the 21st century.

It seems that the trend is becoming quite apparent, with a nice piece in an Adelaide paper, of all places.

I find it quite entertaining that christian churches - like their muslim counterparts - are finding solace in turning the calendar back a millennium or two.

Scammers such as Bob Larson make a better than good living offering exorcisms. There is an entire network of these bozos across America. Their schtick is that you are cursed, either by your own bad behavior inviting one or more demons into your body or it might even be a generational curse, handed down to you from poor, old Aunt Gertrude.

My own father, who by all accounts is quite intelligent, believes he is an exorcist. We don't talk about it together anymore, mostly because I am finished being preached at. He knows the bible far better than I do, so I suck at refuting his crazy arguments anyway.

Sounds a lot like purifying/detoxification to me. Purge the bad.

I suspect I might be an exorcist too. I'm like, "let's get the hell outta here" all the time ;)

Another piece to add to my "Psychology is a joke" file.
Well he was a multiple-degreed academic, the priest bit was a sideline. All RCC dioceses are required to have an exorcist and a medical/psychiatric examination is required before a solemn exorcism is performed.

Yep, I'm right up with the rules of exorcism, thanks to William Peter Blatty.

It's pretty disgraceful that someone who would consider himself a scientist still believes in witches and demons.
