Merged Ex CIA Agent: Roswell Really Happened

Boy, that's convincing...A guy with a book to sell and a moldy old box of secret documents that only he saw....

What does "Roswell really happened" mean, though? There really was a crash, and what crashed turned out to be something that was a government secret (a weather balloon carrying some sort of microphone thingy to detect Soviet nuclear tests, IIRC).

But I suspect that's not what this character means.

A least he has some fresh first-hand information, based upon events he personally witnessed and documents that he can personally authenticate, and none of that old unverifiable hearsay-upon-hearsay.

Oh, wait. I guess we don't have any evidence of value.

Well, at least CIA agents are always truthful by reputation, and never engage in willful or innocent mis-information.

Oh, wait, again. That sorta WAS their stock-in-trade, wasn't it?

Well, at least we know he has no reason to tell tall tales in this case, don't we?

Oh, wait. That thing about trying to sell a book, that might be a motivation.

This part really seems odd to me:

"The 35-year agency veteran was a covert agent involved in international terrorism, counterinsurgency, global narcotics trafficking and weapons smuggling, and spent 10 years as the agency’s first entertainment and publication industries liaison."

I'm struggling to find the words to describe exactly why, it just seems... odd.

It does somewhat smell of "kicked upstairs".

Yeah, and the part about "a covert agent involved in international terrorism, counterinsurgency, global narcotics trafficking and weapons smuggling" makes me wonder if he at one point shuffled pieces of paper with those words on them.

Well, that sorta sounds like what James Bond did, and EVERYBODY knew he was a secret agent, and of course he was REAL.

Fine. With so many books and other evidence, it still doesn't hold up. I want to see the same proof. The only proof I've seen shows it WAS a balloon.

Can anyone explain why the CIA needs a liason to the entertainment industry?

"Mr. Ford, while you were running around in the desert for Indiana Jones...You didn't happen to....Well, see Osama Bin Laden or anything, did you?"

"Brandon is promoting The Cryptos Conundrum, a new novel that his website describes as a “sci-fi, political conspiracy thriller about CIA’s cover-up of the Roswell UFO crash.”"

Seems like he's taken his entertainment liaison job home with him.

He was probably involved in those things the same way Vanilla Ice was from "the streets". (I live up the road from where he went to high school...it's about as dangerous as Mayberry).

I'm surprised the US doesn't consider Canada sending Justin Bieber south of the border an act of war. ;)

And after Shatner and Celine Dion at that! I think that alone disproves any claims to the US's "intolerance".

Even if we assume that his claims are true (I do not), non of the roles above would make him likely to get the information he claims to have. That is, unless the aliens were involved in smuggling drugs, terrorism, or in the entertainment industry.

Hmm, maybe the last one is not so improbable;)
