After reading Warren's The Purpose Driven Life, I came across this bit on page 43:
"One day you will stand before God, and he will do an audit of your life...before you enter eternity."
Next paragraph.
"First, 'What did you do with my Son, Jesus Christ?' God won't ask you about your religious background or doctrinal views. The only thing that will matter is, did you accept what Jesus did for you and did you learn to love and trust him?"
Pardon? God isn't interested in your religious beliefs but he wants to know if you've accepted the core of Christianity? How can that NOT be a question about your religious beliefs?
Let me provide Warren with this hypothetical scenario of an Islamic apologetic:
"God doesn't care about your religion. His only request is that you accept Muhammad to be the Seal of the Prophets."
Granted that this line of reasoning isn't part of the mindset of most religious people (if it was, then we'd still be in the Dark Ages), did any of you ever encountered an absurd argument like the one above?
