"Eurabia" is a conspiracy theory and a doomsday scenario about the imminent total Islamisation of Europe. The doomsday scenario is that Muslims (who the kind of people who promote this theory conflate with Arabs) will form the majority of Europe's population by the end of this century, due to immigration and higher birth rates. They will then seize control and Islamise the continent. The conspiracy theory is that this is being deliberately planned by European elites, and especially the European Union. The Eurabia theory combines Islamophobia and Euroscepticism.

The Eurabia theory is a politically significant conspiracy theory in Europe. It has been adopted by populist politicians such as Geert Wilders, and was also the main ideological inspiration for hard-right terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, who killed 77 people in Norway in 2011. His manifesto 2083 contains repeated references to Eurabia, and his attacks were intended to contribute to its defeat.

What?? How do you deliberately "plan" something like that?

That's actually the simplest part. By unlimited immigration from Arab/Muslim lands.

You hadn't heard of this before? It's doing the rounds in Islamophobic circles for years, has also come up a couple of times on this board. Doesn't Filip de Winter / Vlaams Belang promote that lunacy in your country?

Yes and No. Never heard of the "The Elites and EU are doing it on purpose" part. Vlaams Belang and NVA do blame the EU for immigration stuff, but this being a CT. That's completely new to me.

It's very interesting that the people least affected by migration are those most opposed to it:
In one of (former Eastern) Germany's federal states, an anti-migration party has just gone from 0 to 20% of the votes, even though the people in that state have a growing economy and basically no refugees.

I think all of this talk is just part of a 'two steps forward, one step back' for integration.

Yep, and those East-Germans have been doing that nearly from day one (same state BTW).

But just look at any election map when a xenophobic party gets a significant slice of the vote: their percentages are always higher in areas with the least number of immigrants. It's easier to sell the bogeyman there, I guess.

On Facebook I occasionally see a poster to the effect that there should be a law passed to ban Sharia Law in Canada or the USA. seems odd given that there is for all intents and purposes absolutely no push for the adoption of Sharia Law anywhere on this continent. Perhaps we also need a specific law banning the importation of wazzits from Proxima Centauri.

you've been looking at Conservative Party private member's bills again, haven't you?

Eurabia is a concept which has be created and put forward years ago by Bat Ye'or.

Although he does not use the word French writer Eric Zemmour's theories about immigration are quite close to Eurabia concept.

And I would guess one can find other examples in other European countries, including Belgium, where the word is not openly used but can be seen in the background of some statements of people like Filip Dewinter, Geert Wilders and many others in Europe.

This person? And CTers don't see her as "Public Enemy nr. 1"?

So Eurabia will complete the change from Euromia, the conversion of all of Europe to rule by Rome?
Brave souls such as Hannibal managed to start the push back. In later years the Holy Roman Church led a counter offensive which in turn was fought by such leaders as Luther and King Henry VIII of England.

There was a brief attempt at Euteutonia, rule of Europe by the Germanic branch of Europeans. It was attempted over the course of 1914 through 1945 in a see-saw set of battles.

;)

Well, you have forgotten Eurofrancia which was stopped at Waterloo on 18 June 1815. :D

You can see a similar thing in the recent Brexit vote.

Yes - says the person who has about 40% of his immediate colleagues as immigrants (only about half from the EU).
ETA:
It's easier to see a group as "other" if you don't spend your lunchbreaks with them, for example.

Bat Ye'or sounds to me as the typical CT-er par excellence herself.

Her whole concept of Eurabia is based on nothing but the short-lived Euro-Arab Dialogue in the wake of the 1973 Yom Kippur War and the first oil crisis, and the Strasbourg resolutions of 7 & 8 June 1975. This is the text of those resolutions. As anyone with half a brain can see, those resolutions are totally non-binding and non-committal; they're full of "should"s but no "shall"s - the body didn't have any legislative power to begin with - and with "calls on" but there's no evidence at all of follow-up by the respective governments. She's run with a document that was only meant to for both parties to have something to feel good about.

You're forgetting about the earlier version of Eurofrancia, ca. 8th Century. Charlemagne controlled an area that surprisingly well coincides with the six founders of the EEC in 1957. He also had some of the same aims. He created a unified currency and coinage throughout his realm and unified measurements, in order to foster trade.

ETA: or should I say: Eurobelgia? After all, Charlemagne's grandfather Charles Martel, the victor of the Battle of Tours/Poitiers, was certainly born on the family domain in Herstal, near Liège in nowadays Belgium, and Charlemagne himself likely too.

I'm not saying she's not a CTer (definitely ******* crazy), I was thinking more about the fact that it says that she's half-Egyptian and half-jewish.

And since all Joos are evil...

Charlemagne's birth in Herstal or Jupille near Liège is far from attested. Other birth places in Germany and France have been suggested.

The best candidate for an Eurobelgia would be Charles V whose birth in Ghent on 24 February 1500 is not subject to discussion.

OK. Sorry, I'm a bit new to this CT-thingie, so I haven't yet developed all the right antennae for this.

BTW, the wiki article says she's born from Egyptian Jews, so I would rather say she's full-Egyptian and full-Jewish. That's not contradictory.
