Eric Hovind, Kent Hovind's offspring, just posted a poem on his blog (contains an image of a black man stealing from what appears to be a white woman) about immigrants and whites:

Welfare Poem

I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.
Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

If you're going to believe everything you get in your E-mail inbox, I've got a cousin in Nigeria you might be interested in hearing from.

In this case 5 seconds spent checking Snopes reveals that this is false. It was written about Canada originally, and wasn't even correct then. Somebody just switched the references to the U.S and added a racist poem to the begining.

As a result, Eric replied:

I have just found out that these stats are not correct. I still like the poem though!

I also like how Hovind mocks welfare when his website asks for donations and his previous blog post was about asking people for money:

Begging?

One of the founding principles of our ministry is that we will not beg for money. If God wants to provide, he will provide. We have been blessed to watch Him provide time and time again, and for that we are thankful. I have to say that personally I have had a hard time over the years discerning between the fine line of begging for money and voicing a need.....

That was it; that was my answer! It is not begging to let someone know about a need! If Dove had not sent that message, I would have never known about the need. I am so glad that she asked because now I know of a way that I can be a blessing to my neighbor and I know it will be a joy for me to do it!

Hypocrisy and bigotry from the Hovind family is nothing new. After all, Kent promotes The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Maybe radical religion goes hand-in-hand with radical politics? And just think the shooting at the US Holocaust Museum happened June 10, 2009 (two days before Hovind's post).

Wow. I never thought I would despise Eric as much as I did Kent.

This piece probably has Australian origins (at least the '80s). I recognised the format and quickly found this:

Bless Australia
In Vietnam things not O.K.
Think to self - "Must get away"
So jump on boat and come to Aussie,
"Ah so", I say, "What lovely possie".

Go quick smart to welfare fella
He hand me money - I give to bank teller,
Welfare say "Come here no more,
We send you cheque right to your do

.... and so on

ETA: As the link says its probably out of Britain.

Geez. How talentless do you have to be to have to plagiarize racist songs?

I guess Eric must be a Darwinist. As the elder Hovind said, Darwinism is the root cause of all the trouble in the world -- racism included. Did anybody tell Kent his son went over to the dark side of the evolutionists?

PZ Myers comments

If you want to comment on Eric Hovind's blog, Eric will have to read and approve your comments. If you attempt to post on that blog it will say "Comment moderation has been enabled. All comments must be approved by the blog author."

In other news, PZ Myers just commented on the racist ditty:

Getting tired of Ray Comfort's silly blog?
Category: Creationism
Posted on: June 14, 2009 9:23 AM, by PZ Myers

Ray has always been good for hours of hilarity — he writes amazingly stupid stuff. But now Ray has competition: Eric Hovind has a blog! It's not quite as insane as Ray's, but it does have more evil and stupidity.
...
Hovind has been shown that some of the statistics he used to justify vilifying immigrants were wrong, he's admitted it, but he still likes the poem. That tells you a lot about him, right there.

UPDATE:

After PZ Myers posted the link sending thousand of viewers there and some left comments, Eric removed the whole post and replaced it with:

Eric Hovind's blog said:
I had previously posted a poem entitled "Welfare Poem". Apparently people confused my posting of this poem as evidence of me being a racist, for that I apologize. In the mind of one that is NOT a racist, you would take that poem as a simple dislike for lazy people who USE the government, do not work, and expect to get paid for doing nothing.

I believe that evolutionism is the real explanation for racism. It is amazing to see the comments of evolutionists accusing me of being a racist when in reality evolutionists have the world view that would lead to that.
...

Note he apologized for people's "confusion" that he might be racist. His post doesn't discuss the parts of the "poem" that talks about non-whites breeding as a threat to whites, and how whites will be expelled from the U.S. by non-whites.

Eric showed racist attitudes and even after he admitted the statistics were fake, he still said he liked the poem. After the outcry, Eric blames racism on the scientific fact that ALL humans evolved in the same process, in the same way, and ignores the fact that racism existed prior to Darwin's "Origins" with Christians justifying it...

Also Eric doesn't like people who are lazy and refuse to work? Well, I suggest his website quit asking for donations and he apply for a 40 hour per week job.

I like what one of the commenters wrote:

Tony Lloyd said...
It is not racist to accuse some of seeking to live on welfare.
The fact that the poem identified those so accused solely with non-white immigrants is, clearly, racist.

Most non-racists would appreciate this and, if they had inadvertently used a poem that made the identification, be utterly mortified and quick to, genuinely, apologise.

The "nopology" you issued rather confirms things.

You can still view first Eric's posting in google's cache, I saved it in case he wants to deny posting this racism.

I'm surprised at the level of criticism he's allowing in the comments section. I wonder how long it will last.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are only two comments allowed through his screening process right now.

However, many other people on Myers' post have been saying they tried to post on his blog.

True, but neither of them are fawning cretins telling him how right he is, which is all that I expected him to allow.

I'm sure more have been submitted, but I don't anticipate that he'd screen every single comment as soon as it comes in. Not even I expect people to be at the 'puter 24/7. And if he never gets around to approving more? I'm still surprised he allowed the two that he did- I have low expectations of him.

He's up to 26 allowed comments on that blog entry.
