ergo 525 mouse problems

This is an appeal for help from someone more tech savvy than me - we bought an ergos 525 gaming mouse, and cannot get the extra buttons to simply act as 'mouse button 4' and 'mouse button 5'. You can only chose between things like 'volume up' or 'undo'.
The sad reason behind getting the mouse was to help playing wow. A lot of the macros require mouse button 4 etc and we simply cannot get the ergo to let these buttons be extra buttons - they all have to have one of their preset functions.

Any help on alternative drivers, tricks atround the presets would be gratefully received!

First off, does the software allow a blank\no assignation? That should reset it to Button x

Have you tried uninstalling the driver package? Windows should still detect it and use it as a generic mouse with lotsa buttons

Alternatively does the driver program allow custom keybinds using ALT, CTRL etc? If that's the case then just change the macro activation from mbutton4 to CTRL+P (I'm not sure how to do macros in WoW but you get the idea ;) )

Finally if all else fails then I'd suggest getting a Logitech :), the setpoint software is aimed at gamers and allows different button setups depending on what game's being played

EDIT - If you can change the macro activation to CTRL+C and CTRL+V then change the mouse buttons to Copy and Paste respectively that should sort it for you

Thanks Mongrel - it's good to know all the things I thought of weren't silly ideas!

The mouse still doesn't work properly but another multi-button mouse that does work has been located (mainly because someone didn't want to wade through the programming of a downloaded add-on.....you didn't hear it from me!)
