Let me start by addressing the first point:

A quick search for an author named "McKeith" in the Dissertation Abstracts Database (ProQuest) returns only 4 results, all male, and none named Gillian, and none having anything to do with human nutrition. So unless her name is Floyd, and the title of her thesis is "TENDERNESS COMPARISONS OF MUSCLES AMONG THREE BREED-TYPES OF CATTLE AT DIFFERING TIMES-ON-FEED," then I conclude she does not have a legitimate PhD from a US institution.

All legitimate US PhD theses are deposited with Dissertation Abstracts (I have never found an exception). Dr. Laura Schlessinger's is there. Bill Cosby's is there. Martin Luther King's is there. Mine is there. Kent Hovind's is not. I had two students get their PhDs this week, and both of them have to do their paperwork to deposit their thesis at ProQuest. So this is common and expected.

Now, searches can be challenging sometimes. Did she maybe get her PhD under a different name?

Whenever I hear squabbles about PhDs, Dissertation Abstracts is where I start. If it ain't there, it ain't legit.
 
I am trying to understand, how seriously pathetic must a place (Clayton College) be to not be able to get accredited by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians? The Woo is too strong for them?

I was watching the whole thing unfurl yesterday, and it did make for a nice amusing afternoon.

The lack of judgement really is quite staggering
 
I don't know if he's still doing it, but Ben Goldacre always would refer to her as "Dr Gillian McKeith PhD" just to rub it in. In his writings, even after he had mentioned her name ten times, he would still spell the whole redundant thing out.
 
That's gonna be the catsuit picture isn't it? I just know it. I refuse to follow - it has lethal potential.

I've seen many people refer to her in writing as Dr Gillian McKeith, which never seems to stop being funny.
 
As an American I can say that I am insulted by the notion that someone from another country would be criticized by an American for bragging about a degree from one of our scam institutions.

It's EXACTLY like burning the American Flag then making clean the dirt road with a dollar bill--George Washington's face on the business end.

I haven't been this outraged by a blatant display of anti-Americanism since Katie Couric asked Palin what newspapers she read. WE'RE AMERICANS, KATIE, WE DON'T *********** READ.

Which is, incidentally, why we need scam diploma mills...

It's worse than that, Jim. The bloody woman is Scottish, much as it pains me to admit it. Obviously I can't read either....

I always wonder, with frauds like this - does she realise that what she's saying is the proverbial pile of foetid dingoes kidneys, and is happy to continue for the money, or is she actually so deluded she believes photosynthesis can happen in the intestines?

She lives her whole life around people who tell her she's amazing. No one challenges her BS, so regardless of how she started, she now believes her own hype.

Or she's really, really dumb.

She's a legend in her own mind.
Gillian McKeith is to nutrition what Paris Hilton is to string theory.
