No it´s not a "the end is near!" thread. It´s more of a question. As we enter the year, do you guys think we will see a radicalizing of the 2012 hoax or not?

I have started telling anyone who believes the end is nigh to max out their credit card and give me the gifts

I think there will definitely be more vehemence.

Just look at any "imminent" prophecies. The Great Disappointment, Campingate(s), The coming of the Ipad 1, you name it, and there was more vehemence nearer the date.

Now, obviously I'm not going to predict anything that I expect to remotely come true, but;

I expect there to be more... entertaining, vehemence than in previous cases. Just look at the New Age corner, and how colourful they are now, and think about how interesting they can get when they think that a) the world is about to end, or b) a global consciousness shift will happen.

Personally, I don't think anything metaphysical (or physical for that matter) of any import is going to happen, aside from the colourful displays of belief in the aforementioned changes.

I think I'll just sit back and enjoy the displays.

I think overall the reactions and anticipation next year will be mostly a subdued dud. Partly because of reflection upon the Camping affair (who btw is still posting audio on his web site on why everything worked out perfectly), and partly because its been hyped for too long.

Wait a minute. Camping is posting audio in which he explains how everybody who was worth saving is now with god, and how the earth got destroyed?

'cause that's what he prophesied.

Okay. Look around you and think about the people you see. If you read any of the great holy books, God hasn't any use for those who don't believe in Him.

Of those you know who do, fervently, believe, how many are the softs of people with whom you would populate your kingdom?

Harris Himes? Pat Roberston? Terry Jones? Rick Perry? Michelle Bachmann?

Good point. So God took nobody to heaven.

That still leaves the world-ending bit unexplained.
