Energy Healing issue

Hi I havent been around for a bit but like that bad penny :-)

But I gots a serious question and Im hoping for some ideas. I come back cause I need some help on this, and this is a great place to get some creative thought.

My friend who (I brought this up last time I was here) Im happy to say is trying to get over psychics, its taking a bit. Shes finally getting that they come in different packages. And this incident Im about to tell is the straw for her.

Anyhow she was seeing a Energy healer and he did this waving his hand near her hip trying to fix her back pain. He was to put the "power" through her body to the back.

Now, the part I cant find a reason for (for those that dont know or remember me Im of the christian faith but (I know its weird for you guys) but Im a doubting Thomas fan) Anyway, she said that after yrs of physics etc shes never "felt" anything. But when he put his hand near her, she felt a stab through her body, followed by a "gush" feeling in her gut.

Later that night she had feminine evidence show up with cramps and in the morning it was gone. To complicate the matter she was thinking before that she was pregnant, and said to the guy that she may be pregnant and was he sure to try to heal her back pain. He assured her it was fine, but it seems it wasnt.

I told her that perhaps it was concidence and bad timing but this "physical" evidence Im afraid will perhaps show her this guy may have powers (hes also a naturopath) Because now shes nervous of him. Which means she will stay away, but I dont like to see her this way.

Does anyone have a idea other than concidence? Its bugging me that he had her feel a stab. Power of suggestion, but then physical? Is there a magician trick where one would "feel" something?

If anyone has ideas Id be very happy to hear them. Its one thing reading about these things but this is a good friend. Shes sincere and I just cant wrap my mind around what may have happened to her.

Coincidence, auto-suggestion... those are my guesses. Is your friend normally highly suggestible? That is, does she convince herself of things, then hold fiercely to those beliefs? I'm thinking the answer is probably "yes."

Bolding mine.

The longer you go mystic healers, the better the chance spontaneous remission will occur soon after a session.

The "pain and gush" is probably auto-suggestion.

Coincidence is unlikely, but suggestion is high up the list. When your muscles have been under constant tension and for whatever reason you suddenly manage to relax them, the feeling can be quite powerful. Having someone wave their hands around you (when you are aware of this fact) can induce this relaxation. I've got this funny effect that when I see someone around me doing slow movements I get an endorphine rush. Even now as I'm imagining one of those instances, it happens again. No friggin' idea what causes this, but it's certainly not powers from this person.

If only your friend could learn to relax without someone waving their hands at her she'd be a much happier person.

I wonder, if she had been blind folded, would she have reacted in the same way. The auto suggestive comment seems more feasible in this instance.

First off thanks for responding, I appreciate it given it being a slightly sensitive event. Im actually worried for my friend I dont want her obsessed with this guy.

auto suggestion hmm (thinking out loud here in cyberspace)

(she can be very head strung)

now he said I want to work on your back and she was nervous about her possibly being pregnant.

Then when he does his stuff for the back as he thinks, shes still obsessed with the baby part.

Then she "feels" this stab/gush in her gut, (which I may add is not where he was pointing, it was more at front at the hip) so she not "feeling" where he is supposed to be energy healing anyway.

That does lend as well dont you guys think? Shes so baby focused, shes wiping out his auto suggestion of back and putting it to baby.

Bruno that endorphine rush would that apply here? Just how does that work, sort of a anticipation thing?

Then I dont know if Im filling in blanks here but the intensity of the experience could get her feeling cramps later. Not sure about the other, maybe the cramps and worry and intense guilt for letting him touch her. Thus "killing" her baby Id say could get her in quite a state.

Id let her just go on thinking (rightfully) that she shouldnt have seen him and needs to stay away. But I dont want her thinking he has any power. Or to be fearful of him or rack herself with guilt.

Was she, probably coincidentally, having a miscarriage while he was doing this? They can happen anytime, anyplace.

I'd like to echo what Bruno said with a similar example.

Every few weeks we have a window cleaner arrive at my place of work to clean the windows. As soon as he starts with the mop and then the blade I get goosebumps and a tingly feeling and endorphine rush. On the one hand its not an unpleasant experience while on the other hand I always feel a bit wierd after. Why is this happening. I'm not homosexual and even if I was female or homsexual, the window cleaner is an unattractive 65yo man nearing retirement. :D

I can only assume, it happened the first time due to the squeek of the blade tingling my spider sense and now by association my body always experiences the same sensation when I see this guy coming even before he starts cleaning the windows. Like Bruno, I am also experiencing this sensation right now while typing and thinking about this.

Do I think the window cleaner is having an energy healing effect on me? No, of course not!

Heres another wierd one. If I lightly run my fingers over the inside of my forearm just below the inside of my elbow, I get a tingly sensation under the right side of my tongue! Now do I think this is proof that the accupuncturists and reflexologists are right that different parts of our bodies are connected by meridian lines of ying and yang? ie my tongue is connected to my elbow, so to treat jawlock i should get an accupuncture needle in my elbow? Of course not. More likely and using occams razor, it is probably that the nerve endings for my tongue and inside of elbow end close by in the same area of my brain and that sometimes there is crosstalk and interferance with the nerve impulses.

Would she not believe you if you point out the myriad of places that other women have had miscarriages and that no supernatural powers were involved? I had one at the grocery store and my friend had one in a clothing boutique.

cabilos

interesting I think theres some thought there

rachaella, Thats interesting that it could happen without any event pushing it to happen. She also thinks she had one cause she ran across a building at a horse event for her son, and physically exerted herself. for which she also felt guilty, but her son was winning at a texas show and it took the fun away from that event.

I think its concidence and this suggestion everyone says. And even if the guy was healing he was supposed to be healing her back anyway. (I guess she thought he misshot)

If thats true Im going to point out to her that outside interference is not necessary for miscarriage, and she was told that she has a hard time maintaining pregnancy. But she felt "ominous" about the man touching her, Im gonna tell her trust that rather than him.

This is really good info everyone, its been a struggle to get away from these types for her. After she finally decided to say no, she keeps stumbling into them in different forms, numerology, naturopath (this guy) etc. Its like a addiction, to know the future.

(Even my office coworker saw a pcysic and said it was amazing, I pulled off several books from the site here on how to cold read. and now she thinks it would be neat to do. She doesnt see the flim flam arghhhh!)

I had a miscarriage while lying on a couch. I too felt a stab of pain and a gush in my gut. A few months later, I was pregnant again and fell while rushing down a wet and slippery flight of stairs. I worried for a few days that the fall would cause a miscarriage, but it didn't. Women can have miscarriages anywhere for no apparent reason.

Be aware that the emotional trauma of a miscarriage can be severe. It's hard not to blame yourself under any circumstances and it can be quite literally like coping with the loss of a child, though it's rarely as severe as as the loss of a born child.

Best of luck to your friend.

Exactly, most miscarriages (especially earlier ones) are a result of a chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus and NOT the actions of the mother. Women can go through amazing and traumatic things, as Beth mentioned, and still keep the baby. Miscarriages are a phenomenon largely not within the mother's control.

wow guys thanks so much Im gonna talk to her, I think Im on the right track here. All that guy did was give her a cause to feel bad about herself and guilty.

And excessive guilt is not right, in fact Im thinking if she wants to really think about it even the bible cautions against it. (shes catholic, but I like to call her catholic lite) But Im gonna encourage her to give it up and realise it is what it is with her body and that git cant affect her in any way shape or form unless she lets him control her mind.

If she was pregnant and although worried about him, affecting the baby, while he was working on the back. Come to think of it I wonder if the auto suggestion was more her than him?? Could one wig themself so much???
