Editing Foobar playlist (fpl) paths

Does anyone know if it is possible to do this? I want to edit my playlists to conform to the directory structure of Windows 8 (Users/Charlie/My Music) instead of XP (Documents and Settings/Charlie Wilkes/My Documents/My Music)

These are binary files. I tried going at one with a hex editor, but I couldn't get it right. Nobody on the Internet seems to know either.

I suppose one way to do it is to replicate the legacy file structure in Windows 8 and put my music there.

I'm so happy that Microsoft decided to change the file structure for libraries. I can feel the benefits coursing through my veins and throbbing in my temples.

can't you just create" Documents and Settings/Charlie Wilkes/My Documents" folders and then a symlink (shortcut) in there that points at Users/Charlie/My Music ?

Rather than replicate the legacy directory structure, you could make a legacy directory that's actually a symlink to the new directory structure. I think they are called joins in Windows.

Yes, the link is built in. This is my fault. I named my user account Charlie instead of Charlie Wilkes. It just took me awhile to realize that.

I will just re-create the playlists manually. I don't want to lock myself into something because of one application.

Please ignore this thread...

I just discovered I can export my fpl files as plain text m3u files, edit them, and then save them as .fpl files with foobar.

I can't believe I wasted half a day trying to figure out how to do this with a hex editor...
