Ebaum's video ... is it genuine?

This video is in the "Hilarious" section of Ebaum's World, and I have to admit, I was laughing at first. But as it went on, I couldn't anymore. Within a very short time, I found myself asking these questions: 1) Who would have recorded this? (Parents?) 2) Why? (for the therapist?) 3) Who would have leaked this?

I found it fairly disturbing by the end because either this is the best child actor on earth and I should bring him to Hollywood and represent him, or there is a very sick child here, and someone close/trusted didn't respect him enough to keep this confidential. Or, the child liked to video himself while playing computer games, and later realized he looked ridiculous acting this way about a game. (As someone who doesn't play video games often enough, I can certainly find them frustrating, but jeez!)

Anyone care to speculate?

Cruel older sibling?

(He never leaves the camera frame. Definitely fake.)

OMG, I'm so embarassed! I had no idea there was a camera rolling when this forum went down again...

I have a shameful secret. I like to watch "America's Funniest Home Videos". Recently, I saw a video of an adult man watching a sporting event (football, I think--the American kind) and completely coming unscrewed. Screaming at the screen..."I told you. I told you. I told you." Absolutely nuts.

is this why German is generally not considered a romance language?

it is German right???

Looks like a put-on to me. None of his mouse movements or keyboard actions before he begins bashing the keyboard would do anything in a game and he sounds like he's faking it at the start. The keyboard isn't connected; bashing it would have caused numerous errors, or so I assume.

Another 15 minutes of fame in the magical world of the web.

Maybe he's a stockbroker? I've seen worse on the trading floor. A guy once put his fist through a 21" flat panel monitor, and this is when they cost over $3k.

Honestly, I find it odd that his keyboard is a big, old clunker and he has an optical mouse. Also, his k/b and mouse movements didn't seem conductive to actual gameplay.

To be perfectly honest, I watched it only once when a friend showed it to me. But I thought it would certainly be educational to see how many problems people could find. I couldn't answer any of my three questions if the answer to the first wasn't that the kid did the taping himself. But I can also imagine someone so (apparently) disturbed existing, which made it a compelling thing to see the first time. And instead of laughing all the way through, I just had to start questioning. Imagine if I hadn't prepped it at all. Would you not have had to watch more than once to be sure it was fake? I would have, but I've got a lot to learn. I've always been good at questioning ... though not necessarily at answering. Which is why I'll spend as much time here as possible.

I can't tell if it's genuine. If someone can care to show me where this video was originally put up on the net, I'll take a look. (Check my sig to see what I'm talking about)

I've seen a lot of videos like that recently. Seems to be the latest cool.

Thank you for that. I have just spent my entire daily ration of laughter in less than 5 minutes.

It seems like an act to me, but that's just my opinion.

For me, it was near the beginning, when he first brings up the keyboard. Before he smashes it, he takes a few breathes and looks totally placid. Then, still with a calm face, he winds up and slams his fist on the keyboard. Only after that does he look upset and starts ranting again.

Of course, maybe I just can't read German anger very well.

I'd be interested in seeing a translation of what he's saying. As far as who's filming, the fact that the camera never moves implies it's a webcam or just a video cam he set up himself.
It does seem fake, or else this kid needs to be in a treatment center.
