Well, they're doing SOMETHING, but increasing security it's not. Spending money and wasting time, to have a gizmo validate the process of having a 'hunch' is more like it.

I think dousing could be useful before too if the planters didn't make the bombs waterproof, rain season is about to start in Thailand, maybe they're making a call to the rain gods to start early
