Based on observation for the past 5.5 years, I hereby coin, invoke and establish Dorian's Law, a corollary of Godwin's Law.

Godwin's Law: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one. Coined by Mike Godwin in 1990.

Dorian's Law: As any discussion occurs associating something negative with a Republican, the probability of a Republican blaming it on Democrats or Bill Clinton approaches one. Coined by Dorian Gray a few minutes ago.

I claim this Law, all rights of naming, titles and ownership, and I name it after myself.

Now that the 'legal' part is over, let's be honest. This happens ALL THE TIME in the Republican party or with media associated with the Republican party. I heard Hannity bringing up something that some Dem did 23 years ago to compare it to what Mark Foley did recently. He actually said 'it was not that long ago.' O'Reilly's sexual harassment lawsuit? Rush's OxyContin addiction? Foley's troubles? Why, those were just politically motivated by the Dems (as if the Dems got the meds, and the Dems made the calls, and the Dems e-mailed pages, and the Dems mired us in Iraq).

I can't wait to see the first real-time invocation of Dorian's Law.

And vice versa. This law already has a name-political bs. Nothing new. That applies to any argument or political party. If you are saying anything negative about something, it's polar opposite will eventually come up as a comparison. Finding the negative with the polar opposite justifies what you are trying to show in a more positive light even if it is also negative. You shadow one with the other.

Wow, Tailgater, you rebutted Dorain's Law by invoking Dorian's Law! Well done. I think I actually heard a rhetorical implosion!

This is a vast Dorianian conspiracy. Wooo, Wooo, Wooo. I'll have mushrooms and mussels with my spaghetti monster, thanks. :p

Truly, you have been touched by His Noodly Appendage, Darth Rotor.

Tailgater, when you said 'And vice versa', did you mean:
1) As any discussion occurs associating something positive with a Republican, the probability of a Republican blaming it on Democrats or Bill Clinton approaches one.
2) As any discussion occurs associating something negative with a Democrat, the probability of a Republican blaming it on Democrats or Bill Clinton approaches one.
3) As any discussion occurs associating something negative with a Republican, the probability of a Democrat blaming it on Republicans or Bill Clinton approaches one.
4) As any discussion occurs associating something negative with Democrats or Bill Clinton , the probability of a Republican blaming it on Democrats or Bill Clinton approaches one.
5) Something else
