Does Firefox "leak" memory like IE?

Firefox can leak memory (recent versions much less than the 1.0 or 1.5 branches), but not in the same way or with anywhere close to the same eagerness as IE.

Is there a guide to the performance of various add-ons that are commonly used... can they have a memory leak independent of firefox core?

The MozillaZine knowledge base has a list of some common issues with commonly used extensions, but I can't post links yet, so you'll need to piece this together:

Not really sure what memory leaks you are experiencing with IE/Firefox, but for me, neither has any serious leaks, when working on my forum, i may have 50-60 tabs open at a time (which does take a lot of memory, but doesn't mean it's leaking).

What may cause leaking is all sort of lame IE addons/bars/plugins which people seem intent on installing.

I've installed nothing whatsoever to IE. It leaks, trust me.

 You're right, no evidence, I made it up just for fun.

Am I supposed to care if you believe me?

OT, slightly, but I Ireally lik Opera, it works well with most websites, and is very user friendly.

Mouse gestures, sconfigurable search results opening in a new tab, use of mouse wheel and right button to switch between tabs.

fit to width (ideal if you have met pillik and his hanckock half hours (that's how long it takes to download one of his pictures on broadband)

Text size and real zooming of webpages, ditto. (this page looks odd at 990%, or 20%)

It also seems fast.

Have I mentioned that I use it as my first choice browser?

Jim
