Dear TAM2 organisers,

The prospect of an Aussie axolotl attending TAM2 is increasing, but what would be REALLY helpful in making up our minds is seeing at least the outline of a timetable of events. Of course things will change right up to and including the last minute, but just a simple list with dates and times to start with would be good.

Or have I missed it in the haze of debate here? :)

Tentative schedule

This isn't final, but it's a pretty good beginning. We'll open up on Thursday evening at 5 PM with a reception after which Randi and Ian Rowland will be appearing. We should be finished by 9:30. We start Friday morning and will be featuring Michael Shermer, Hervey Peoples, Penn & Teller and a panel. We still have an open pending slot. We should be finished by 5 PM, then Friday evening will be our fundraising dinner with Randi and the Penn & Teller show at the Rio that we are selling discounted tickets for. So if you're not attending either of those events, you've got the evening free. Saturday will be a full day, with Bob Park, Phil Plait, Steve Barrett, Lance Burton, another panel discussion and then dinner on your own. After dinner we'll start up again at 7 PM with magic shows until about 9 PM then you're on your own. Sunday morning will be the presentation of papers, another speaker and wrap up by 1:30. We'll have a few additional speakers on Saturday that aren't listed as they're not confirmed yet.

Thank you for the listing. I also want to attend and a schedule of events is very helpful. Any further details that can be added as they become available would be greatly appreciated in firming up my plans. Thank you.

I almost forgot.....there is also a separate workshop on Thursday afternoon from 1-5 PM. Andrew and Randi will be conducting it and the working title is "Solved Mysteries". It will focus on examining psychic claims evidence and then developing methods to test them. You will learn how to establish controls, how to tell whether people are being deceptive or whether they are actually deceiving themselves. You'll see some of the devious techniques applicants have used to try to win our $1 million prize. This is not part of the regular conference, but a special workshop offered at $150.

Thanks VERY much, Linda! This is great to go on with. Hope to be back with a positive reservation soon.

an Aussie axolotl

There will be more than axolotls coming from Oz. At least three, maybe four, could be five, ...

Not that I am a name-dropper or anything, but three of the potential Pacific peripatetics were discussing our trip while having dinner with Ian Rowland tonight. We aren't really going to Las Vegas just because it will be the next opportunity we have to see his act, but nobody should tell him that.

OK, then it'll be like Oktoberfest?? Looks like I'll have to bring the big caterer pack of Vegemite too...

Make that four - I was there too, and I told Ian I WOULD see him in Vegas. (He looked scared for a few seconds...!) :)

Hi Linda,

Any updates on details for the schedule?

What times during the day do you envisage the sessions and breaks will be? I realise these may be fluid...!

cheers
