"Next he demonstrated how to convert people to believe in god just by touching them. I have no idea how he did this but he managed to convert a whole room of sceptical people. A nice touch was after this scene a caption was displayed explaining that they were "converted" back afterwards."

"It seems apparent that we have to establish much closer ties to Derren, and we'll try to get him to attend and participate in the next Amaz!ing Meeting."

Derren Brown could probably earn a lot of money by converting all of the participants in TAM4 to christianity. And I would just love to see him convert all of them 'back' to atheism afterwards!
(And how about going to church and converting everybody?)

I always suspected you of wanting to convert to christianity!

That would be great! I am sure it would make TAM even more attractive, especially to the British audience (and to women?)

What exactly? God? Derren Brown?? Naomi Campbell's butt??? Or Claus converting????

Oops - I was replying to Claus's post, and did not count on two posts appearing in between.

I meant Derren Brown would be great at TAM. Though I am sure that Naomi Campbell's butt is attractive to lots of Brits.

Derren Brown is obviously very popular in the UK, and I am sure that his presence at TAM would be great publicity for JREF in the UK.

Randi hinted at a possible alliance between Derren and himself. What a team that would be!

Derren is still relatively unknown in the US and could gain access to places that Randi or Banachek would be prevented from going to.

He has already demonstrated that he can take US woo's by surprise in his Messiah program.

I have seen Derren's stage show live and can confirm that he would be a big hit at TAM 4. I might even break open the piggy bank to go myself....but don't let that put you off!

I'd like to go myself anyway, but if Derren went I would be going without a shadow of a doubt.

Not convinced Derren would want to join the complete skeptics fold quite yet. He still distances himself slightly from skepticism by saying that he isn't interested in debunking, more about getting people to question things. Of course he IS debunking things so maybe is just saying that because it is not seen as being a career enhancing move to get a reputation as a bitter, humourless debunker (which is what he may be afraid of being portrayed as). He is still young (33), still tours extensively with his magic show and may wait a while before taking the leap properly, although his last two TV specials have focussed almost exclusively on critical thinking so he is definately moving in that direction.

A man for the future to carry on the Randi work? Quite possibly. Now? I hope so but am not convinced
