I saw a British documentary about this guy last night. Very interesting. Hard to say who is more scarey, him or those who campaign against him. Regarding Icke himself, what I find really disturbing is how someone who is apparently utterly rational and obviously intelligent could be so remarkably out of his gourd. Are any of you familiar with him and his philosophy? All this stuff about a secret, worldwide ruling society of "illuminati" who are really lizards and the spawn of aliens.

They drink baby blood and all sorts of hideous stuff. They exercise mind control over all of us regular folks. They apparently have it in for old Dave himself, but he keeps eluding them or something. Another thing I find disturbing is that I find myself agreeing with him about certain things - the dangers of world government and the centralization of power, the development of a world economy and multinational corporations. I think it is unfortunate because, by virtue of being such a wingnut, he tends to delegitimize the genuine concerns of normal people about these issues. Check out his web site. Very "illuminating". A hoot.

I apologize if he is old hat to you guys, but I haven't seen a post about him in here.

Personally, I don't mind people like this, it's when they have a bunch of followers, well, it gets scary :D

I hear that the lizard people are controlled via secret coded messages in the Geico auto insurance commercials. Shocking! ;)

Sounds like he's a real mess. The old "they drink baby blood" routine is just for shock value. Surely there are nut jobs* out there that have done such things, but I would suspect the main reason for making such claims is to stir up the pot.

As for feeling disturbed for agreeing with him. So what if he's "right" on a few issues. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.......... unless, of course, it is digital.

Take care,
Sort

*The term "nut job" is not intended to be offensive to any baby blood drinking lizard alien creatures who might be posing as my neighbors or Charlotte and Bill at the gas station I frequent.

Before the lizard nonsense (but after he was a well known sports presenter for the BBC) he started going around with his family, all dressed in identical purple tracksuits, proclaiming himself as the Second Coming. But, y'know, he's not crazy any more.

David Ickes problem is that he is apparently completely incapable of telling the difference between a metaphor and a literal truth. As a result he believes lots of things which are supposed to only be metaphorically true to be literally true, and generously mixes these things up with things which are obscure but actually true. The result is an inpenetrable mish-mash where people find some of the things he says deeply insightful and very interesting, then they turn the page and find him telling us that the Queen Mother was literally a shape-shifting reptilian who murdered children and ate their internal organs.
