David Copperfield mugged. Used trick to conceal wallet and phone

That's nothing. I heard that someone who tried to mug Derren Brown was later found running naked round Covent Garden making chicken noises.

Heard this on the radio this morning. Pretty cool. Yes, I have fantasized about this kind of thing. I guess I'm must be a sad, lonely guy too. Oh well.

I think the good news is that the bad guys are behind bars and looking at 20-30

Conan O'Brien had a great joke (IMO) about the Copperfield thing in his monologue last night. I'll paraphrase as well as memory permits:

David Copperfield was robbed but used sleight of hand to trick the robber into thinking his pockets were empty. Or at least that's what was first thought when the robber walked away. But now police suspect it was just another case of someone walking out on a David Copperfield performance.

For some strange reason, I had a huge crush on David Copperfield when I was about 14.
There, I am sure you wanted to know that.

Penn Jillette has validated me. From his April 26th radio show (available here: http://penn.freefm.com/episode_download.php?contentType=36&contentId=57101 )

"When you're the loser kid in school, with no skills and no friends, and you're sitting there practicing [magic], all you're dreaming about is being robbed at gunpoint."

"I don't care about [listed a bunch of signature Copperfield tricks]! I care that a 12 year old boy in New Jersey promised himself he'd be cool, and then he grew up, they pulled a gun on him, he did sleight of hand, and then told his goddamn assistant to call 911!"

I didn't grow up to be nearly as cool (yet), but I do have lots of friends and some useful skills. Really.
