Condoleezza Rice

I wish an OP would include who "these kids" are, what they're doing/saying, and what it has to do with the former Secretary of State.

And I quote from article, "But some students and faculty had protested, staging sit-ins and saying Rice bore some responsibility for the Iraq War as a member of the Bush administration."

I wish someone would tell these kids had G. W. not taken a stand to finish the job his dad had, which by the way was protecting friends in the region, it would have escalated to what we see in Syria today.

Well call me callous, but I tend to prefer civilian war where the people inside a country in the very end decide who has won and who has lost, to foreign invasion which dismiss civilian victim as "collateral damage". Between two evil, self determination is better. And frankly it isn't a given that it would have ended that way.

Thank you.

I wish people would stop making excuses for a needless war we caused and just admit it was a mistake, GW, et. al., made up an excuse to invade, ignorantly underestimating what it would take and wrongly predicting an idealistic outcome.

I thought this thread was about the wonderful genius Condoleeza Rice. I love and so respectful of this woman. So proud that she represents educated conservative women everywhere. How appropriate that she was the first woman member of Augusta.

Ah, the women who was briefed about plans to attack the US using planes as a weapon and later pretended that nobody could have imagined that, after she failed to immediately order the evacuation of the WTC buildings as reaction to the first plane crash and thereby failed to save the lives of a rather large portion of the people who died in those buildings. Good for her that accountability is unamerican.

In order to judge whether the war was "needless" or a "mistake" one should at least consider plausible counterfactuals. For example: Saddam (or one of his ruthless sons) is still in power; the economic sanctions have collapsed; Iraq and Iran are engaged in a nuclear arms race; Saudi Arabia, Libya (Qaddafi still in power), Syria (insurgency delayed) and even Turkey have joined in that race. Quite a mess actually, with the significant possibility of a regional Armageddon, or nuclear materials ending up in the hands of terrorists.

You might disagree that such a scenario was likely, or even possible, but it's not difficult to argue that the world is a safer place without Saddam (or his heirs) in power. That doesn't mean that the benefit was worth the cost, but I don't think very many people actually have considered the likely consequences of leaving Saddam in power under a disintegrating sanctions regime. Personally, I think very little of value has or could have been accomplished in Afghanistan. And that was supposed to be the "good" war.

I missed that. Do you have a reference?

Apparently her black parents did. I guess they liked it.

Not sure what the race of her parents has to do with it.

Her name, Condoleezza, derives from the music-related term, con dolcezza, which in Italian means, "with sweetness".

Would it be too much to ask what authority the National Security Adviser has to ORDER anyone to do anything in NYC? Your skill of applying 20/20 hindsight is utterly amazing. Too bad your illustrious insight skill doesn't allow you to see how utterly stupid it is to support the crap of the CIT idiots.

As you decided to keep your laughable third-class disinfo piece in your sig despite several substantiated requests by me to retract it, asking if anything is too much to ask is quite an affront.

You are always welcome to refute my "third class disinfo piece". Can't do that, can you? All I see is you continuing to whine about it as a derail. BTW, why didn't you answer my legitimate question regarding the claim you made related to the subject of the thread. Obviously, that must be "too much to ask", right?

So much for the free exchange of ideas at our institutions of higher learning. Conform to political correctness or be shouted down by the mob.
