Hello,

I am new in this forum & non-tecnical.

I use computer & internet for long time here or for other works, say for about 10Hrs per day, 20-25days in a month & for 11 months. I am bit doubtful about its effect on my health. Social effects are different which I am not thinking.

Can you pls guide me accordingly?

Best wishes.

I've been working intensively with computers for two decades. I have never had any health problems at all.

I am visible in the dark, though.

Yes, you should get more exercise. And in your specific case, you use the computer time to give you a lot of silly ideas about managing your diabetes, instead of following doctor's orders. Thus your preoccupation with computers is probably going to shorten your life.

Get a good chair. Maintain an upright posture. At least once per hour, get up, walk around for a minute, stretch.

Keep your monitor close to eye level. If you find your eyes strained or tired after using the pc, reduce the amount you use it , or consider a pair of low power magnifying glasses. Increase font size if possible.
I advise using a good flat screen monitor.

Don't attempt to type for more than twenty minutes without a break.
Use a wrist support. (A bag of sand will do.).

Thanks all. Uptill now in 4 years of use, no major problem is there except some stretching the eyes occasionally. What about one finger typing, thinking too much dynamically when typing, sitting in same position for more, head positions, eye strains etc.?

How about spending too much time sitting on your behind when your health would be much improved if you got outside for some fresh air and exercise?

But yes, you generally are "thinking dynamically" too much, sine obviously no sense comes out of it.

Yes, that should also be a part of life along with family life. But my ratio 1:most is very bad, so people don't leave. Much time wasted is TTTT. I don't mind if eveythinnd is real/dynamic talks, which is also one king of excercise.:)

Anyway, to the topic; Any other computer effect, which can you tell. If radiations effect, reflected light effect from screen and sitting in the same posture/position for long, using too much mind in fabricating Q & A etc. can effect or not? I feel relaxed on good discussions tensed with bad discussions(family may feel opposite:D). How?

What will happen is that you gradually will begin to lose your eyesight. Monitors can have the nasty effect of burning your retinas.

Furthermore, excessive use of mice and keyboards will undoubtedly cause carpal tunnel syndrome.

I would still like to give my opinion, even if the OP lied about being new.
I have suffered no major problems due to my overuse of the internet/sitting in front of a PC. I have actually been able to communicate with people sharing my same hobbies, opinions, and what not. What could possibly be bad about the internet.

Congratulations, Kumar. You have now learned Section 2 of your workbook: Cut-And-Paste.

You may now move on to Section 3: Sensible Posts...

What is problem in this? How I become liar by this? Whether understandings, technologis not changes in two year esp. in computer/internet field which is fast changing. I atleast got this new information;

Lesser effects thought/told than as indicated before two years.

Use an ergonomic keyboard and desk--a_unique_person

Some other also indicated by other posters.

Thanks to them.

Even without knowing that, as fowlsound pointed out, you had posted the same question in the same sub-forum over two years ago, the 4700+ posts you've made is a bit of a giveaway, isn't it.

Yes, slightly. Recent studies indicate that using a computer with a CRT monitor (not flatscreen) for more than 2 hours a day increases your chances of getting cancer/having your skin turn glowing green by about 20-25%.

Apparently this effect has been known for some time, and in fact there is evidence that Russian scientists working during the cold war were developing weapons using this effect with similar technology to that used in computer screens, but the project was dropped as being too costly.

Is that actually you in your avatar?

The main negative effects of internet overuse are:-
Sagging stomach muscles from living on coke and pizza.
Lack of any social life .
People selling your house because they thought you had died.
Anti social odour due to not cleaning the house for months.
Repetitive strain injury, due to looking at porn.
Mental instability induced by discussing seriously wierd stuff with rather unusual people all over the world.
Lack of sleep due to doing all the above at 3 am, because that's when most of the Yanks get up.
I'm sure we could all add to the list.
