Yes, my dear friends and enemies, I´ll be bringing chocolate again. And, once again, I challenge every one of you who thinks their country makes decent chocolate to bring some of it along for the Great Scientific Testing Event, aka The Chocolate Challenge.

In the interest of focussing on the good stuff only, I declare that the Challenge is limited to Dark chocolate only (feel the temptation of the Dark Side... ;)); you´re welcome to bring something else, but that´s not going to compete.

At one point, preferably during the JREF Forum Party, we will test all the chocolate that entered into the Challenge. Judges will be selected from among the skepchicks present (plus, again, Phil Plait).

So, ladies and gentlemen... bring it on!

A small chocolate shop near where I live in London make glorious bitter dark chocolate covered orange rinds. Can I enter the Chocolate Challenge long distance, by sending the chocolate via another person who is going to TAM, as I am not going to TAM myself :(?

To be fair to Tanja, someone should send her a few samples as well.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Dark chocolate? I wasn't planning on the dark stuff, but I suppose I can get some extra before leaving San Francisco.

When?

Where are we going to hold the Chocolate Challenge? Jeff Wagg says there is no hospitality suite.

Just an aside, but there is an interesting comparison that can be made between UK-made Cadbury's and Canadian Cadbury's. The UK stuff has more vegetable oil, the Canadian more cocoa butter.

I tested the difference once with some friends. One said that the UK Cadbury's tasted like vegetables. Although only after I pointed out the difference.

Of course you can enter long distance.

@Claus:

Who the hell put the Chocolate Challenge on a different time than the forum party? That makes no sense at all. I say we have it during the party.

Calm down. It was my understanding that this was so.

I'll put the Chocolate Challenge with the Forum Party.

Any idea where it is held?

I think it's still being set up. Breathe deep, Claus, don't let the idea of flashing boobs get you too much. And please use washable pen to mark the days left on your bedroom wall. :p

Tanja, PM me with the name of the chocolate (if it's sold elsewhere in the country, which I suspect it's not), and I'll take some on your behalf. I visit London fairly often, so I could pick up some if you name the store.

Limiting the challenge to dark chocolate only is silly. For one thing, it's undemocratic. For another, why bother? For a third, I don't like dark chocolate, and I am the most important judge.

Hmmm, something Luciana just said made me think...

Chocolate... boobs. Chocolate... boobs.

We may need some volunteers.
