Do ad-aware, spybot etc anti-spy tools remove spyware from all sites??? I seem to have a pop-up on my computer everytime i open explorer. It is in chinese and probably aquired from a chinese site. I tried to run the anti-spy programs and delete all the spyware but this freaking pop-up still appears.

I've heard about this before. It could be the Adware.Adtest - a trojan that resets your brower and directs you to chinese sites.

Here are removal instructions from Symantec for yea. Don't know if it will help. One of the instructions says you can go into the control panel and do an Add/Remove. Program in the list will be in Chinese.

Symantec Security Response - Removal

There no program to add / remove

The Program Name is in Chinese. On non-Chinese Windows systems, this appears as random incomprehensible characters. Select this application. (this is what it states on the page)

but nothing of this sort is on my computer.....
any good trojan scanners to recommend that scans chinese ad/spyware???

Might wanna try Spybuster. I use this - quickly looked not on this site - but another one - that said it got rid of this chinese trojan.

If you are still having problems, you might want to download HijackThis.

If you want, cut and paste your logfile onto a PM, send it to me, and I'll take a look at it. (Don't post one on here though -- they're ridiculously huge and I don't think the admins/mods would appreciate it).

I don't think there's anything in a logfile that would allow anyone to identify you by IP address, etc., but if you're not sure about sending it to me for privacy sake (totally understandable), there are several tech forums that deal with this sort of thing. (Majorgeeks.com has one, and, oddly enough, iamnotageek.com has one too).
