Can anyone provide more up-to-date info on this?

Nine scientists will travel this month to probe the origins of the 50-60 meter (165-198 ft) tall structure -- dubbed "the ET relics" -- in the western province of Qinghai, China's state-run Xinhua agency said on Wednesday.

The mystery pyramid sits on Mount Baigong, has three caves with triangular openings on its facade and is filled with red-hued pipes leading into the mountain and a nearby salt water lake, Xinhua said.
...
A research fellow at a nearby observatory of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yang Ji, told Xinhua the theory the pyramid was created by extra terrestrials was "understandable and worth looking into."
I assume it wasn't built by aliens, but I would like to hear about any official report resulting from the visit of these scientists.

That was an interesting article so I googled it a bit. No news as far as I can tell. That means either it turned out to be nothing interesting, i.e. natural formations or there is an X-files like coverup going on.

Pick whichever answer suits your particular world-view :)

All the article confirms is the fact that aliens are completely oblivious to the menagerie of other 3-Dimensional figures available in the world...

(Personally, I'd be more impressed if the aliens created a 4 or 5-D pyramid...)

By the powers of Darkness I bid thee arise dead thread

The baigong pipes turned out to be fossilised tree roots. this explains the news blackout after the first claims of extra terrestrial plumbing leaked out. And it wasn't a pyramid but a conical hill
they didn't want to add to their earlier claims for ET because they embarressed themselves making them.
