Chavez Gains Power To Pass Laws By Decree

Any apologists ready to split off and call him a dictator, yet?

I recall learning in Psych 101 about an experiment where they asked people if they could put a giant sign in their yard. Almost everybody said no.

But they asked others if they could put a tiny one in their yard. Many said yes. They then asked, a little while later, if they could put a slightly larger one in their yard. Many said yes.

They repeated this over and over, slowly, until most of 'em had the giant signs in their yard.

Déjà-vu.

every-time he gets the limited decree powers the same drama.

From teh imperialist anti-Bolivarian reactionary pigs at BBC:

He had asked to able to rule by decree for a year to address the emergency caused by floods and landslides that have killed around 40 people and left 140,000 homeless.

But the National Assembly extended the period to 18 months.

...

The current parliament, which is dominated by the president's supporters, is in the last few weeks of its session.

A new congress will begin sitting in January with many more opposition members following elections last September, which would have made it more difficult for Mr Chavez to pass laws.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

we will see, if he this time uses it for more than he said he will. or if it is like the last times, he uses it for what he said he would and after the time the limited decree power expires.

You think it was OK the other times he had it?

And why do you keep calling it "limited"? What powers doesn't this give him?
