German Catholic Doctors Offer Homeopathic 'Gay Treatment'

The Lesbian and Gay Federation in Germany (LSVD) is outraged. Following news reported this week by the online magazine Telepolis that the Union of Catholic Physicians (UCP) has been offering homeopathic "Therapy Options for Homosexuality" on their website, the advocacy organization called the suggestion an "insult," and an "impertinence" that showed "a lack of respect for homosexuals and bisexuals."

That's just all kinds of crazy rolled into one, and then watered down, for extra strength.
 
Wow. You have ex-gay therapy and religious involvement (which usually appear together), combined with homeopathy. It's the trifecta of flummery!
 
So the Catholic Church upsets Homosexuals. This is news why exactly?
 
Are there really many physicians out there who support homeopathy, for any reason, other than getting rid of hypochondriacs? I find it hard to believe. (I certainly hope they don't count homeopaths as physicians.)
 
Well, at least we know that no gays will be harmed through this "treatment". I would normally be offended, but using homeopathy to "cure" homosexuality is just too ridiculous to be offensive.

It's a silly premise, but it's another headline promoting the idea of homosexuality as some sort of aberration. It's breaking my coglioni.

If homeopathy is based in the (ridiculous) principle of like cures like, that means that someone behind all this nonsense said, "here is a substance that causes gayness - if we dilute it to one part per quadrillion, then we can cure gayness." My question is, what was the identified substance.

Just have them hang out at the YMCA. The swimming pool is full of ultra-dilute extract of penis. Sure to cure the gay. There's a song about that too...

Homeopathy is a bit more entrenched in Germany than we'd all like. From the German wiki page:
Voraussetzung zum Erwerb der Zusatzweiterbildung Homöopathie ist die Facharztanerkennung. Die Weiterbildung gliedert sich in 6 Monate Weiterbildung bei einem Weiterbildungsbefugten, oder 100 Stunden Fallseminare einschließlich Supervision, und 160 Stunden Kurs-Weiterbildung.[107][108] Die Zahl der Fachärzte mit dieser Zusatzweiterbildung stieg von 2212 im Jahr 1993 auf 6712 im Jahr 2009.[109]

Homeopathy is offered as a 6-month postgraduate course at universities. Precondition is that you are a licensed physician. In 2009, there were 6712 physicians in Germany who had completed the homeopathy course.
