Old news, but still newsworthy . . .

Next they'll be telling us that Steve Jobs is the Anti-Christ (personally, I think it's Bill Gates), and that computers open the doorway to Hell.

Cardinal Warns Parents About Giving Wireless Devices as Christmas Gifts[/b]

By Kevin Eckstrom

Washington, Nov. 15 - A leading Catholic cardinal is warning Catholic parents to be careful when buying iPods and other wireless devices as Christmas gifts because they could be used by minors to access pornography.

Cardinal William Keeler of Baltimore, who co-chairs the Religious Alliance Against Pornography, said iPods, PDAs and video cell phones can easily send and receive pornography, much of it unsolicited.
"Sadly, unwanted pornography often leads to wanted pornography," Keeler told members of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Tuesday.

Keeler urged bishops to warn pastors and parents that the devices used to download music and movies also make pornographic photos and videos more accessible, and warned of an "approaching perfect storm" that will inundate consumers with pornography.

This is a weather alert for the Mid west. Fast moving Tropical Porn 'Debbi' is moving NE at ten miles an hour spawning multiple pornados! Please get your children inside as fast as possible. Dallas residents it looks like you are now done, People in the path of the porn can expect up to twelve inches in places.

*LOL*

. . . and in places where the sun doesn't shine!

What I wonder is, wouldn't it be better to give pedophile priests iPods to look at porn instead of playing "kiss the lizard" with the altar-boy? ;)

No, an iPod is a phonograph. Though it might lead to dancing, which is scarcely better.

Is pornography producing more Ted Bundys?

Maybe the Cardinal is on to something? We don't want more Ted Bundys.

The following is from Wiki's article about mass murderer Ted Bundy.

The night before Bundy was executed, he gave a television interview to Dr. James Dobson, head of the evangelical Christian organization Focus on the Family. During the interview, Bundy made repeated claims as to the pornographic "roots" of his sexually driven violence. He stated that, while pornography didn't cause him to commit his crimes, the consumption of violent pornography helped "shape and mold" his violence into "behavior too terrible to describe." He alleged that he felt that violence in the media, "particularly sexualized violence," sent boys "down the road to being Ted Bundy's". After the interview was made public, many who knew Bundy as a sociopath had their doubts as to the validity of his "the pornography made me do it" claims. In the same interview, hours before his execution, Bundy stated:[1]
"You are going to kill me, and that will protect society from me. But out there are many, many more people who are addicted to pornography, and you are doing nothing about that."

How do I know that people like Bundy don't just like porn, too? Not that porn helped to influence him (blame something besides himself), but that people of his ilk him enjoy porn and feel no societal influence to eschew it?

Not that porn influenced him negatively, but that society failed to, positively?

I dunno, just looking at various possibilities.

It occurs to me that I could replace 'porn' with another book title, and the statements would be much more true.

He stated that, while the bible didn't cause him to commit his crimes, the constant reading of violent bible passages helped "shape and mold" his violence into "behavior too terrible to describe."
There we go. That's alot more accurate for violence throughout the centuries.

I'm thinking Bundy hasn't got much of a score compared to old Adolph (not to mention the Inquisition, witch-finders, et al)

I agree. It's the same argument that is used against marijuana. 95% of all heroin addicts once used marijuana. Well, I'm sure that about 95% of all heroin addicts drank milk as children yet that doesn't prove that milk leads to heroin abuse.

It's easy to find "stepping stones" to aberrant behavior among those things you don't approve of.

Are you aware that many serial killers are literate? We need to ban literacy now!

If that were true logically we should already have hundreds of Ted Bundys running around murdering in every state, given the vast expansion of porn on the internet in the past 15 years or so.

Funny how that hasn't happened though.

Could it be that Ted was just trying to blame someone else? Or could it be that *gasp* Dobson might lie to advance his agenda?

I agree, and if violent video games prompted violent actions among teens, we'd have a Columbine every day. People just LOVE to believe that the things they don't agree with are detrimental to society.

I wonder what kind of video games or pornography they have in Iraq? ;)

Yea, but Bundy didn't blame the bible, he blamed porn. When your facing 2000 volts in a few hours you might as well tell the truth.

Lots of people like porn. It's a multi-gazillion-dollar industry.

And yet, to date, there has been only one Ted Bundy.

Somehow I don't think porn is to blame for Ted Bundy.

What concerns me is the clergy's apparent facination with the idea of young boys receiving suprise porn via wireless devices and wanting more of it.

It really annoys them when someone else steals their ideas.

So, a serial killer sought to affix blame to something OTHER than himself for his crimes? Right.

In other news, the sun came up this morning.

The night before Bundy was executed, he gave a television interview to Dr. James Dobson, head of the evangelical Christian organization Focus on the Family.

It speaks volumes about a man's character when he's willing to associate with a slime-bag killer to justify his own domineering attitudes about sex as well as the repressive public policies that he endorses.

Of course, as we all remember, this is the same James Dobson who gave bible-beating father's the following advice so they can prevent their sons from catching "the gay:"

"He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger."
