Waiting for the pod bay door to open.
He's happy for them to come back to him with the findings in, say, after November.

US President George W Bush said today that a commission looking into pre-war US intelligence on Iraq would not issue its report until after the November presidential election because he did not want its work to be "hurried".

"The reason why we gave it time is because we didn't want it to be hurried," Bush said in an interview with NBC television's Meet the Press to be aired tomorrow.

"This is a strategic look, kind of a big-picture look about the intelligence-gathering capacities of the United States of America, whether it be the capacity to gather intelligence in North Korea or how we've used our intelligence to, for example, learn more information about (Pakistani nuclear scientist) AQ Kahn," Bush said.

"And it's important that this investigation take its time," the president added in excerpts from the interview released by NBC today.

I'll say, take all the time you want, boys.

It has been a running theme with this administration to use investigations as a stalling tactic.

Of course, if this were 2003, and the president set up a commission that would investigate until early 2004, none of this would be an issue.

I'm sure election-related reasoning, in part, factored in to allowing the commission this much time. But a true, thorough analysis and report cannot be rushed to a politically convenient deadline. That said, they should have preliminary findings in time for the election, but I do not see the timetable he set as being unreasonable.

Is there disagreement with this, or are you just pointing out that the commission will not report until after the election, which we already knew, and this is just another Bush-bashing thread?
