Are you considering not visiting Arizona because of the recent immigration, Birther, and ethnic education legislation that has been passed or proposed in the State?

I must admit...I am having thoughts of not passing through.

I refuse to watch Raising Arizona now. And also, I won't go to Hawaii until they remove the wreck of the USS Arizona and dump it in the deep ocean.

I will make a point of going to Arizona and spend a lot of money, just to show my support. I have friends in Tucson. Think I'll pay Steve a visit.

I think Arizona needs some catapults...

I will not alter my plans to visit AZ (I never had any), but in honor of AZ, I will be stopping every white Republican male I find and ask them if they are legal.

Why? Don't blame Arizona for trying to stem the tide of drug cartels, kidnappings, killings, etc. The 1070 Bill just reinforces what the Feds should be doing; and its amendment specifically prohibits racial profiling. Even President Obama cannot say that the bill is unconstitutional, and he should know since he is a consitutional attorney. The hysteria surrounding this bill is just insane. Other states have similar statutes on their books.

What - boycott most of the USA in favor of Mexico which should get its act together? What - the American flag is an offense in America (per California LAUSD teachers????). No flag clothing, no kids being able to draw a picture of the American flag in school?

I have darker skin, so I'll stay away from Arizona.
Ken, don't listen to the propoganda - think critically and read the bill. Do you not already present your driver's license or other photo ID when you buy something at a store? This thing about "show me your papers" is BS. Really.

Fine, even though I'm NOT a Republican I will gladly show you my passport and my drivers license. My passport has a beautiful rendering of the American Flag inside.

This :D

Actually, I had no plans to visit AZ, but if I did I think I'll be giving New Mexico another look first. I don't have any friends in AZ anyway, and I know someone in Santa Fe. Meh.

ETA: It's not so much the whole immigration bill thing as it is the totality of the loony-sounding tone coming from the Arizona GOP these days. It reminds me of some of the weird crap I heard growing up in the South.

Not in Mexico you don't show your papers buying say liquor. You buy your liquor and likely as not there are stray mongrel dogs walking in and out of the store while you buy it from some twelve year old kid behind the counter and then walk out into a street two inches deep in dust with Federalis standing around with machine guns usually pointed down fortunately and they vanish when the sun goes down as do you.

Now what's your problem? You don't think the US should be like Mexico?;)
