Interesting story about the number of CCTV cameras in use in the UK. It's often claimed that there are 4.2 million CCTV cameras in the UK, although many of us have often rejected that claim and pointed out the flaws in how that number was estimated.
And it seems that the figure is a lot lower:

(Caveat of course there could be flaws in this research and therefore the confidence we can place on the figures but I've not had time to try and find out.)

There are fewer than half the number of CCTV cameras in the UK than previously thought, new police estimates suggest.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) says there are closer to 1.85 million cameras than the widely-used estimate of 4.2 million.
