He's on Nightline now. I hope certain people are watching. Ben Bradlee is a Journalist (as is Ted Koppel for that matter).

Attention, Rush Limbaugh. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Attention, Joe Scarsdale. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Attention, Anne Coultin. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Attention, Sean Hannity. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Attention, Tom Savage. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Attention, Glen Beck. You are NOT a journalist. Ben Bradlee is.

Etc...

Are you saying that just because MSNBC's Joe Scarborough went on air believing that an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator on the Howard Stern show that he wanted to blow up the moon so woman wouldn't get PMS was indeed the real Arnold, that he's not a credible journalist?

Surely you can't be serious!

Nice list. Put all those righties in their place. Especially Anne Coultin and Tom Savage, whoever they are.

Ben Bradlee is a man I've admired for quite a while... even though I am not sure I would like him if I met him. From 1972 through 1974, Bradlee came under heavy fire from the White House, which accused him of going after Nixon for purely political reasons. (Bradlee was a Kennedy man.)

In fact, the opposite was true. Bradlee was not bent on bringing Nixon down, but was intently focused upon getting the story right. He carefully supervised Woodward and Bernstein (as did other Post editors) to make sure that the stories were fair and well supported.

Getting the story right paid off. Nixon's press secretary had bad-mouthed Bradlee and the Post as being politically motivated, but eventually he offered a public apology when the stories were shown to be correct.
