BBC Poll in Iraq

Poll

This reflects my personal observations, too.

No no they all hate, it must be so, other TVs told me so.

Seriously though, this has been said for month and even though now there is more proof I doubt certain people would care at all.

Damn good news. These people have The knowledge, skills and resources to be a great nation. We owe them the oportunity to try to make it happen.

This link is for the actual poll instead of just a summary. The actual questions are shown along with an analysis.

Good news. I hope that Iraq is able to meet the higher aspirations of its people and the international community.

But Fool! There were no WMD's!!! Therefore shouldn't the Iraqi people continue to suffer the tyranny of Saddam?

"We owe them the opportunity to make it happen" ??? But weren't you against taking action against Saddam??

Funny how you change your tune. If it were up to you and people who think like you, the mass graves in Iraq would just be gathering more mass. You're no fool....you're a "useful idiot".

But Rikzilla! You can't change the past! The war was illegal, wrong and a pre-emptive war without broad international support was probably not the best way to turn Iraq into a democracy. Billions of dollars have been spent to achieve this, tens of thousands dead and we still have a very long road ahead. Meanwhile millions more people around the world are being killed or oppressed by dictators.

None of this changes the desire that I'm sure everyone has to make to the best of the situation the Iraqis now find themselves in, nor to begrudge those who have survived the war a rosy future.

China executes 10 000 people a year- and that's only the ones they're admitting to. Better get cracking if you want to keep the pace in your Crusade to Make the World a Better Place.

The only useful idiots around here are those who think the war in Iraq was about anything other than simple greed.

Just out of curiosity - which wars HAVE been legal?
Most of them, surely. Wars between nations can only be said to be illegal when there is a recognised international law governing such things. That's a pretty recent (though very positive) advance. Any war that didn't break those international laws would also have been legal. Again, there are many perfectly legal reasons for going to war so that's probably most of them again.

None of them really. A war is neither illegal or legal, it just is.

So a little over 1/2 of the people think things are better now than prior to the waR. Is that supposed to be impressive? Youd think that if life under Saddam was so horrible as advertsied then the people would be more excited.

If you look at the stats most dont want the coalition troops and 1/2 think the invasion was a bad idea.

An illustration of Mr. M's worldview in action:

5 houses are on fire in Mr. Manifesto's neighborhood. One truckload of courageous firemen show up and attempt to put out a fire.

"You can't do that!" Says MM, "What about all those other houses? They'll still be burning!" The fire chief replies, "Yeah? Well when we're done here, we'll see about the others. We've only got one truck you know!"

"Well why THAT house? Why not put out the 5 alarm fire down the street first?"

"Well like I said, we have one truck...one truck can't tackle that fire...but we can put out THIS one."

"No! I think you have a secret plan! Perhaps your vice fire chief owns the reconstruction contract on that house! We'll do a study, let in inspectors,...come back in a few more hours!"

"Please Mr. M...just get out of the way and let us do our job."

"No! You jackbooted government thug! I am organizing my other mental defective friends....we'll make a human shield!"

Well, that's pretty simple Mr. M. Simple greed. Anyone disagree with me is an idiot. A simple idea, held by a simpleton.

BTW: As for the Fool. His earlier post was the very height of hypocrisy. An attempt to snarf down his cake and still call it a cake after it comes out his other end. You might sell that idea to people who don't know you,....but the rest of us see it for the steaming pile of hypocritical crap that it truly is.

That's a lot of energy to be wasting on a strawman. The fire department's job is to put out fires. It's not the American government's job to decide who runs what country- whatever you (and many of your leaders) may think.

Big words. Especially 'snarf'- though from the looks of your pics, you do a fair bit of cake-snarfing, so I guess you know what it's all about. But tell me, what's hypocritical about what he said?

Irrelevant. We had neither the authority nor the right to intervene.

It's not? Says who?

Nice idea, but since we got this international law thing that all our countries signed up to, entirely wrong.

I'll give you a clue. Start off asking which other countries have the right to decide who runs the USA, UK or Spain and under what conditions they might have the right.
