First I'd heard of this....

On another forum, a member asks about reading that individuals with expensive night-vision goggles can look out into space and see large-scale space battles taking place. Supposedly, delta-shaped and saucer-shaped craft blasting away at each other with lasers.

And right next door! Who'd have thought?

Here's a snip from the post:

"Ed Grimsley has been seeing battles between unknown aircraft in the night skies since he was a teenager. Since then, he has continued seeing what appear to be Delta shaped and Saucer shaped aircraft in space shooting it out, using what appear to be laser weapons. He has seen hundreds of these objects recently and using his five Military grade night vision binoculars he has invited many people to come to his areas and view the objects in earth space shooting it out. Using his night vision glasses, even skeptics who thought he was 'seeing things' have now been convinced that what Ed Grimsley has been trying to tell people about all these years, is very real. Ed recently joined Jose Escamilla as a co-producer of UFO-The Greatest Story Ever Denied: Moon Rising."

(name removed)

I don't know who "Ed Grimsley" is...Likely just another UFO kook.

some hear voices, others see battles in space :)
i would prefer the battles above the voices.

I have a night vision camera I usually use to view meteor showers and for tracking satellites. I usually bring them out when we have star parties. I don't know what Mr. Grimsley sees, but when I hook it up to our telescope and hook up the feed to a monitor, we invariably get a group of kids viewing the images and proclaiming some sort of space battle going on. Funny how they don't seem upset when we explain what they are seeing are a combination of meteors, space junk, and artifacting from the night vision CCD.

What? You mean Mr. Grimsley doesn't understand what he is seeing has a mediocre explanation?

Oh... he has money invested in woo... that explains why he can't or won't offer a better explanation.

Surprise! He sells night vision goggles! Who would have thought? And cheap, too!

Wow! The $470 I spent for my camera must be a laughable toy compared with his product!

But, I did buy mine at an Army Surplus... and we all know how they are "in" on the cover up.

Funny how these things are NEVER seen through high-power telescopes, ONLY through Mr. Grimley's night vision camera. It's almost as if he's confusing the artifacts created by swiftly panning around bright light sources - stars in this case - with UFOs.

I'm confused - I can't tell whether the grammar there is bad due to punctuation or dangling participles.

For either reason I choose to reject his tales of space battles.

Have these people never heard of lsd?

It seems that it is a cheaper alternative to the ultra expensive night vision goggles, and produces the same effect of seeing weird crap. I mean at 5 bucks a pop, one can see all the flying saucers, energy spiders and dragons one wants to.

( not that i would know about that kind of stuff......)

Does he also sell super sensitive listening devices so you can hear the PEW PEW PEW! of the laser blasters?

Notice how Grimsly's "report" strongly resembles the classic Sci Fi Movie version of a Space Battle, even down to the shape of the ships?

But makes me want to go home and boot up "Masters of Orion 2" again (now happily available again, modified to run on a modern computer from Good Old Games).-

ah finally i learned something from you :D

If you buy his amazing space goggles but fail to see any space battles, it'll just be because the entire battle fleet has been accidentally swallowed by a small dog. <shrug> Happens all the time.

Total derail, but I once played that game for so long that my entire arm went numb from my mouse clicking fingers to my shoulder!:hypnotize

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

So tragic...
