I was out at my usual Friday night place, playing NTN trivia and chatting with my friends. A break in the game and I'm off to the bathroom.

I finished my bathroom break and was reaching for the door when the garbage can, (located near the door and just to the right of me), suddenly popped its lid. The top flew off and landed at least a foot away. The noise of it hitting the floor startled me.

I figured, it must've been on too tight and blew off from tension or whatever. I picked up the lid and placed it back on the garbage can, only to find it fit back on easily.

I go back to the bar and joke to the server, "You've got ghosts here!"

She says "I know. I can't close the place without something weird happening. It usually comes from the womens' bathroom."

Not sure what to make of that. I've been going there two years, this is the first time something eerie has happened.

The lid may fit loose when attached properly, but perhaps someone just jammed it on there a bit crooked, providing the needed tension for it to pop off over a short period of time.

And, one of the last things the barmaid does before leaving is to hit the ladies room... Makes me wonder if the guy that closes other nights notices anything???

That's the first thing I thought. I have a tube of paint that does something like that -- when the cap is screwed on correctly it stays on well, but sometimes the threads don't align properly and the cap ends up popping off about 5 minutes later.
