Although not many people are aware of it, restrictions on the content of adult magazines and videos have become tighter in the past few years. Articles that could have been published in the mid-90s are now banned, while X-rated videos that were once acceptable now need cuts before they can go on sale. Even a TV series like Number 96, which screened at prime time in the '70s, wouldn't be able to go to air uncut today. How have these tighter restrictions come into place - and is this increased censorship benefiting anyone?
