I'm so glad I don't care about the Red Sox. But these folks sure do.
A Foster’s on-line poll last week asked readers how they cope with the stress of watching the Red Sox in the playoffs, and if readers had any superstitions or unusual habits when they watch the Olde Town Team in its quest for its first world championship in four-score and six years.

The responses were typical of the most rabid fans in all of sport, and indicative of the toll it takes on a fan to wait at least 86 years between world titles.

Dan Sperl of Royal Oak, Michigan, formerly of Strafford, claims to be so superstitious when watching the local nine play, that should the Red Sox win, he will try to do the same exact thing the next day.

"I just get real superstitious," Sperl said. "If I’m doing something, and they do well, I’ll do it again the next day. I’ll sit in the same spot while watching the game, stuff like that. I don’t worry about it as much during the regular season as in the playoffs."
*yawn*

Religious sports fan do this kind of crap all of the time. Prayer is a superstitious ritual often performed to try and get the results wanted.
