I submitted "yes" but must admit that I'm not a real person, just a cleverly written shell script so I'm only conscious by proxy.

You don't have a solid answer on whether you're conscious or not? Does this waffling ever take place before a major surgery? A very painful major surgery? I bet I could guess your reaction if the anesthesiologist responded:
"Well, naturally, I can't give you a solid answer whether you'll be unconscious or not. Got the whole flooowwww of time thing to deal with. But "pain" isn't real anyway."

I'm both conscious and unconscious and also have a subconscious. Isn't it odd how some people try to simplify a complex issue so that they can feel comfortable with their preconceived answers?
