We're getting to the gun-clingiest, religion-clingiest part of the country. Obama's probably going to lose in West Virginia and Kentucky by at least 30 points each, probably closer to 40.

Translation: If you don't vote for Obama, it's because you're a stupid, ignorant, guns-and-religion-clinging redneck hillbilly.

Or have a lot in common with them.

I'm sure that's a message that will resonate well in the general election.

The party of the working man never fails to reveal its contempt for him.

My mother's family comes from the eastern part of Kentucky, and yes there are some people who really look like that. You can find examples of most stereotypes if you look long enough. Stop and think though if someone posted a picture of a stereotypical black person (I will let you use your imagination) and made some bigoted comments.

I would not brand all Democrats with that brush, but no doubt there is a wing of the party that has comtempt for just about anybody who does not live in a major urban area or lives in "Fly Over Country".
And this is a major reason why the Democrats lost the previous 2 elections and might well throw this one away.
Puppycow, you have just revealed your total ignorance of the United States and it's affairs.

Gosh. Sorry. :o

But there were whole TV shows dedicated to the proposition of mocking hillbillies. And Jeff Foxworthy. I'll stop digging now. :dig:

Exit polls say, among other things:
RACE, GENDER AS VOTING FACTORS

One in four Clinton voters and about one in 10 Obama voters said race was an important factor in their vote.

About one in five Clinton voters said gender was an important factor in their vote. Nearly as many Obama voters said that.

Gosh. Sorry. :o

Foxworthy doesn't mock them. This is a prime example of the contempt Obama his campaign, and supporters hold for the great unwashed.

Funny, the above is a prime example of the pot calling the kettle black.

Aside from the broad brush statement similar to the one that the pic in the OP implies?

I think you just may be upset that this type of thread slipped trough. This is a common theme all over the left blogosphere.

The left blogosphere just does not get the point that if the Dems don't get a sizable number of blue collar and rural voters, they lose.
Anybody who thinks that a certain contempt for blue collars and other "fly over country" voters does not exist within the political left (and in sizable numbers) is living in la la land.
George Orwell was one of the first to comment on the contempt that a lotof intellectuals on the left have for the very people they claim to be working for. It was observing this that inspired the "proles" in 1984,where the ruling allegedly socialist party holds the working class in contempt and servitude.

I think that shows what happens when you think. You made an ignorant, broad brush statement similar to the pic in the OP. Deal with it and move on.

Really? So all of the blue collar and "fly over country" people who vote for those in the political left have contempt for themselves?

I must have hit a real nerve. Don't worry, the views expressed by the OP are widely accepted in Obamaland. There is strength in numbers.

No, of course not. They are superior to the clodhoppers they're stuck living near. Try reading Main Street sometime to get a real feel for it.

So it's ok for you to make broad brush statements but those who don't think as you do are wrong when they do it? Pot... Kettle... Eh? Eh?

Well it does take a broad brush to cover the breadth of the sentiment expressed by the OP. So yes, I would say I used it to good effect.
